Not counting three PFS delves I run and the Fantasy Flight X Wing game I tried out (FUUUN!) the only game I actually had time to play was Mr. Brandon Hodge's Civil War Cthulhu game.
And since I had missed the boat the previous two years I was practically begging for Mr. Hodge to run it this year. It helped that a certain ne'er-do-well by the name of Greg Vaughan helped with the peer pressure and Mr. Hodge had to cave in to our pitiful pleas.
I have already praised Mr. Hodge for his Civil War Cthulhu game at Gen Con, even at the 7 am mustering the 10th PFS slot and with no vocal chords available to me I could not stop raving about his session - and I will continue to rave at every chance I get in the future. The game Mr. Hodge ran was worth the three year wait; thank you very much again! From this day on forward whenever I catch a glimpse of a nubile woman bathing in a stream I will think of you.
As for Mr. Greg A Vaughan, that darling boy scout of the Adventure Paths, of the all I can say is if after seeing the man play the part of a Confedarate Officer (a role he may very well have been born to play) - well between bouts of the enitre table slapping themselves silly with laughter (in a Cthulhu game!) and just staight out awe of him never breaking character (the SOB took my last four bullets for himself!!), I have been and always remain a steadfast Greg Vaughan fanboy; his portrayal at the table that night is the price of admission for next year's con! Even if I have to fly to Indy just to shake his hand again.
And all of the above would have been at all possible if not for our grand host's ever charitable hospitality, Mr. Lou Agresta - who no matter how hard I try I always miss on the last day of the con. I owe you yet another one good sir.
Alright, enough gushing, time for a Grognard's question regarding Hauntings:
Mr. Hodge (or Mr. Vaughan, or Mr. Agresta or actually anyone who is familiar with the older AD&D rule set) - for my New Year's gaming resolution way back in during the Holidays (it was a topic on the blog), I promised I would run a 1st or 2nd Ed game in Golarion. I decided to run the first two installments of Carrion Crown using that rule set.
Haunts in that game's editions could NOT be turned, and since chanelling posive energry is a PRPG inovation, can you give me any thoughts on how to handle Haunts in regards to and older editions Cleric turning attemps?
( I asked Mr. Hodge this question at Gen Con, and I even hit up Sean K Reynolds as he walked the PFS room, but since we had little time and beverages may have been in hand, I am posting this question again)
Again, my thanks to all thos mentioned above, and I await next years late night sessions.

Well, what do you mean by a haunt? I don't recall any haunts in AD&D, so if you're adding it, you also need to add the mechanic.
From my point of view, haunts are undead and certainly could be turned, thus, for example, rendering them inactive, commanding them, or even destroying them based on your result on the turning undead table.

Thank you for the kind words on Black Cow's Milk, Black Hen's Eggs. I always have such a great time running it, and you guys totally rocked this year -what an all-star lineup! I'm thrilled you were finally able to take part, and amazed that the group survived with their bodies -if not their sanity -intact. =-)
As for my previous-edition haunt recommendations. The Undead Turning Matrix is the same between editions, and the turning rules are pretty darn close for both 1E and 2E. First off, you'll need to ditch the 2E Monster Manual haunts. I don't have my folder handy, but I think they were more like possessing ghosts, and immune to normal weapons, except maybe magical and silver ones, but those only did a point of damage, I think. And fire damaged them as well.
I would treat the haunt as an undead equal to its HD as found on Table 47 of the DMG. Successful attempts dismiss the haunt until it can reset. Results of "D" (or, in the case of low-level characters, a natural 20, perhaps?) could destroy the haunt permanently. The problem here is that in PF, you can use multiple channel attempts to continue to damage a haunt. In 2E, you only get one attempt per encounter. So you might waive that restriction. Or, your party cleric might resort to the damaging positive energy provided by cure light wounds spells and the like, which can also damage a haunt, so that might be a better option if turning fails. They'll still need to make a "to-hit" roll, and I'd give haunts a base AC of 8, -1 for every 2 HD over 1. Since clerics casting cure light wounds don't add cleric level to castings of the spell to determine damage, I would adjust haunts to give them 2 hp per HD. If you give them normal undead hit dice, you could end up with a 8 hp cold spot haunt against a cleric who fails to turn and only does an average of 4.5 damage per CLW casting.

Ah, that would explain. I largely skipped 2e. I guess that would be why I don't recall the haunts in the 2e MM :)
Well, to be fair, gbone, they were just a creature called a haunt, rather than the specific variable mechanic they have since become, so your edition credentials totally pass! =-)

Ohhhh .... those ....
Weren't they from the Fiend Folio originally?
(looks)
Edit: Nope, MMII. Okay, now I'm with the program.
