Big Beautiful Map.
So big, I am having a hard time finding a wall for it! My "reading room" is the second floor of a Cape-Cod-style house, so the walls are all sloped. :(
Anyway, I was wondering... has anyone tried removing wrinkles, mounting on a single piece of cloth, or foamcore, or other?
Framed it?
A suspension maybe?

A married pair of friends of mine have framed it and hung it up in their dining room, right above the dinner/gaming table.

I bought 4 frames for it and hung it up in my game room next to my Greyhawk maps. We just moved this last weekend so I haven't hung it up again yet, but I have a great space for them now!

I believe I've found a solution.
While at the San Diego Comic Con, I came upon a booth for a graphic novel called Wayfarer's Moon. I bought one, as well as the map of the world from the story, which was sold along with a very stiff plastic protector sleeve that was the size of a placemat and basically a stiff collector's card sleeve except large enough for a large picture.
I thought these would have some nice gaming applications for my unlaminated earlier MapPacks, so I bought four extra sleeves for a buck each. They told me I could get these at art stores.
Later, in the bar, an artist nearly mugged me for them since she wanted to get some to sell along with her art.
Anyway, cutting to now, I found that they're kind of a pain to use for the MapPack cards, but I just went and pulled out the Legacy of Fire map folio and found that the map of Katapesh fits into one perfectly with only one fold, meaning that the quarter-folded map can be halfway unfolded, then slipped into the sleeve, and the whole map can be viewed just by flipping the sleeve over. Same thing with the map of the magic isle.
The poster map folio, which I also have, also fits these sleeves, but only two panels are viewable. But bigger sleeves should be available, and since they're relatively light, they could be affixed to the wall with nothing more than clear pushpins holding but not piercing the edges.

If you just want to remove the wrinkles without mounting to a foamboard backing, you can go to any framing shop. Request to simply warm press the wrinkles out.
What I have done with smaller pieces is center the map on a black foam board with clear nonglossy matte finish on top of the map for waterproofing. Then I used doublesided tape to stick foamboard to flat black matting giving it a 2" border all around. Punched holes with those brass circles (forgot name but use a hammer to punch thru) in the black matte (not the foam) and it hangs nicely wherever needed. If the matte gets torn, replace matte. Foam and map remains pristine and can be retaped multiple times.
Expensive but so far looks very professional despite the abuse it has taken.
