Once upon a time, HeroLab was sold in a physical package at Game Stores. If I had to guess, I'd say this is a local shop clearing cd's off of their shelves, since the link wasn't to Lone Wolf Studios.
It was Sold Out at 8:30am when I looked.

All deals through Loot! are for a fixed quantity of the item being sold. So we allocated a bunch of copies of Hero Lab for the promotion as our first experiment with them. According to the Loot! organizers, Hero Lab was their second fastest sell-through rate they've every had - and narrowly missed being the fastest.

Hero Lab still is sold in physical packaging through game stores. However, this particular promotion was done directly through Lone Wolf Development. I'm pretty sure that all Loot! promotions are handled directly through the publisher and are not liquidations by retailers.
