This is a great book.
I'm really glad you like it!
I have some questions.
Fair enough. :D
Is there a way to use these for other classes? I know that part of the idea is to show off Wizards' grand mastery of magic, but a lot of this would be cool for any spellcaster.
RAW? No. As a houserule? Sure, anything the GM feels should be accessible to everyone as a feat can be taken as a feat. I recommend limited "Discovery Feats" to one per 5 levels, because they are frequently at the upper end of usefulness. And make sure something that is reasonable for the wizard (with his low hp and attack bonus) isn't abused by some other class.
But truthfully, I don't recommend it. Or at least, not unless you've given the wizard some other source of cool, unique powers. There's really nothing about the original arcane discoveries from Ultimate Magic that screams "wizards only." Heck, feral speech sounds a lot like a druid ability. But they exist to allow wizards to have some magic mastery other classes don't, and I believe that's important.
Does a zauberer get a magic school like a normal wizard?
Yes. It's an archetype of wizard, so it works like a wizard except where it explicitly says otherwise. The spell points, for example, explicitly replace normal spellcasting.
