Just curious, did the name of the country of Galt come from John Galt, of Atlas Shrugged? I mean, considering that the country as it is now had its start in treatises on liberty and a distrust in government, but the people still keep forming (and replacing) them. I can't help but wonder if someone was hinting that this is the consequence of Ayn Rand's philosophies, put into a French Revolution setting to make it more fantastical...
Or it could be a coincidence. :)

Actually I think the character you're thinking of was pretty much aiming for the fall of government even if not by his hand. But yes Galt pretty much does seem like the Terror.

Actually, if I was going to look for an Ayn Rand style government on Golarion, i'd say Hermia is probably the closest analog. Galt is basically the French Revolution translated into D&D terms. with maybe a bit of the Stalin show trials and political purges thrown in for flavor.

Nah, the French Revolution had plenty of those too... ;)
My concern was always rather that (in Inner Sea World Guide and its predecessor, Pathfinder Campaign Setting) "French Revolution-land" was a terrifying orgy of violence, while "American Revolution-land" was a happy nation where everybody was equal and no-one kowtowed to authority...

Unless that authority happened to be the Lumber Consortium you work for, slaving away so they can rake in every last copper from your toil...

Actually, I think the Lumber Consortium was a major backdrop in crown fo the Kobold King....

Also Hollow's Last Hope, Carnival of Tears, Revenge of the Kobold King, and Hungry are the Dead.

yeah...I think some Paizo writers were working off some latent rage at min wage employers from their misbegotten younger days.

*shrugs* Well, I've had the opportunity to run them all recently, and they're all set in Darkmoon Vale. I liked having a villain in the forefront who can be openly evil with the law on his side.
Ironically, despite these adventures taking place in the great "land of liberty," where hope burns brightly, there is a big vein of despair running through this series. Without offering spoilers, I can say that even with the party victorious, none of these modules every really ends well, at least for pertinent NPCs or the town itself. I don't think the authors were fond of happy endings when they wrote these.

As a GM, I'm always surprised that the Boss survives more than one or two adventures...by the end of Hollow's Last Hope (also part of the series) they were already plotting his demise and figuring out how to replace him. After ROTKK, and the Boss' actions, I'm even more amazed that parties don't just come back and wipe out the main group of NPCs.
By 4th level, my player's party took out Kreeg, Payday, the flunies, and the halforc who ran the brothel...then they negotiated with the Mayor and Sherrif to find a decent successor to keep the lumber flowing until the consortium could find a decent replacement...they figured as long as the lumer flowed, the LC wouldn't miss a few bad guys...
