Why would anyone use ash storm (UM) over ice storm?

Unless you are fighting a white dragon, the latter is strictly superior.

Side Discussion:
In fact, I noticed there is a lot of "copying" going on in Ultimate Magic. The new genie sorcerer bloodlines, for example, are almost identical to the elemental bloodlines in the Core Book. Why is Paizo shoveling the same crap, but with a different stink?

I could have saved my money, changed the flavor to ice storm and the elemental bloodlines, and called it a day.

If you know of any similar examples in UM, please share.

Also, discuss.

Apparently you didn't, did you? But go ahead and snipe away from your armchair. I'm sure the Paizo guys are going to give your criticism its due attention.
