Alternative Endings for Trial of the Beast?

I am not too wild on the ending of this episode of the AP...

Spoiler:

Go back to Daddy - Ok... cool.

Fight some super duper killing machine that they PCs ONLY have a hope in hell of doing by taking over the beast?

Hmmm - no thanks.

Maybe the Beast knows about the Device that controlled it - he knows he blanks out when it is used - he remembers the post control black outs...

So when he goes to find 'Father' it is with the intent of smashing the machine at best and getting revenge on Father for nearly killing it at worst.

The PCs have a choice in stopping or helping the Beast...

Final encounter is not yet thought of but not the Big Bad Ugly that is there at the moment - instead of being imprisioned in the Lab, the Count/Doctor has barricaded himself in there, paranoid that the mobs with the torches and the pitchfolks will be along any minute...

Any suggestions from other readers or GMs?

I'm going to say that I decided to back off and let Alpon Caromarc stay alive at the end of the book and that it was actually extremely hollow.

I regret not killing him.
