I am very bad at math,and i am currently running a 4-5 member about mid 8th level
i basically need this worked out for me step by step when i used to play 3.5 i never used the xp tables i would just wing it. for this game I am using all the cr's form 3.5 this is my baseline.
the current encounter is a EL 9
it has
2 werewolf hunter (hybrid) cr 4
1 werewolf hunter wolf form cr4
2 vampire spawn cr4
now once my party defeat these creatures do i award xp based on each creatures cr 4X5 or the total el? EL 9
I have been just adding up xp for each creature and splitting it on page 398 (CoreRule) between 4-5 characters using a fast advancement.

apl is average party level. If you have 4 characters all level 8 your APL is 8. If you have more than 5 characters add +1 to their APL because they can take on tougher than normal encounters due to having extra people.
An appropriate encounter for a level 8 (APL=8) party would be a CR 8 encounter. Slightly difficult would be CR 9, Moderately difficult would be CR 10, hard would be CR 11 and very difficult would be CR 12.
The encounter you have, 5 CR 4s, would be a CR 8 encounter. Remember though that if you are running unmodified 3.5 monsters their CR will be overstated due to new toys that PF players and monsters get. So, unmodified, that encounter would be about CR 7. Add another werewolf hunter or vampire spawn to make it an appropriate challenge. Or just settle for a slightly easy encounter.
The wonderful thing is that it doesn't matter HOW you calculate the XP. 5 CR 4's would be 1200xp for each 5 players (1200xp * 5)/5=1200. A CR 8 encounter, for 4-5 players, would be 1200 XP each.

I get five times eight ? cr 40?i was under the impression that in order to hit cr 8 all your cr's had to total 8? 2+2+4=8 is that correct? or am i super off

you are super off. you consult a chart. 2 CR 2s=CR 4 for example.

There is no listing for 5 of something so you go with the lower one. Or at least my presumption is that you do, it'd be like 8.5.
