Any news from Paizocon on the official Paizo iOS app? Any news from Paizo on the official iOS App?
I don't think we said anything at PaizoCon, but where it stands is that we're rounding up the last bits of information Apple needs from us before we can upload them for their approval.
But we still haven't told anybody what they actually *are* yet.

On a side note I was quite impressed wit the amount of iPad adoption amongst Paizo fans and personel at the con. I'm sure there are some andriod users out there but I didn't see any of those type of tablets. My observation can be purely anecdotal, but amongst what I saw, iPad was strongly in the lead.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, and I'm really glad to hear that things are progressing. I guess if your wrapping things up now, we might hear about it at gencon? (*rolls diplomacy skill check to gather information*)

I was using my laptop with Adobe Digital Editions to run my PFS adventure, thinking I would be modern, but it lugged too much for quick paging, and I have a relatively fast laptop. I'm thinking that switching to an iPad would have been better.
Or maybe I should just have made a printout.
I don't know its name but there are other free PDF readers that are available for windows that work a lot faster. Not that I don't love my iPad, but if you like your laptop there are cheaper solutions to try. I'm afraid I would have to defer to the crowd to supply the name of that PDF reader, but suffice it to say Adobe makes the worst PDF reader available.

On my iPad, I use iAnnotate PDF as a player. But you could easily import any PDF directly from Dropbox with it, then just setup bookmarks in the app for things you know you're going to be referencing at the table frequently. I stumbled upon the app from this review and determined that it was worth the investment, even as only a player. I was not wrong.
I picked up a stylus for my iPad, and imported blank character sheets. Any annotations you make in the app by writing directly on the character sheet can be emailed to anywhere as a "flattened" PDF. Meaning, your blank character sheet PDF now is a filled out and non-editable character sheet PDF that you can share with your GM if necessary, or just for keeping backups in a gaming group shared Dropbox folder for everyone.
Add Bullzip to the mix and you have yourself a genuine recipe for the war against paper materials. Bullzip allows you to convert any document/file that can normally be printed by any standard printer into a PDF file. Just save the file to your Dropbox folder for easy access wherever you have an internet connection. I use this method for my character sheets, as I prefer form-fillable sheets on my PC, and the iPad will not recognize form fields within PDF files (I am under the impression that this is due to heavily relying upon javascript).
iPad + Stylus + iAnnotate PDF = no more lugging 10 pounds of crap everywhere. Just a bookbook case for that vintage book feel, and a few sodas....and dice.
EDIT: The author of the review I linked above also has another app review which might be relevant. Just search around his site, might be a few more hiding...
