Yeah, exactly! Or the time I thought I was sitting down to PFS and turned out to be another awesome setting entirely! And that the guy running it was actually one of the developers...I'm coming back next year--no questions asked!!

Mind blown and good times were had. I would like to thank all the DM's for the great games and letting spectators in when it was available. I really appreciated the great games, talks and introspective conversations on the game I've grown to <3.
Thanks for running that awesome Grand Melee session, Jason, even if you didn't see me at my gaming best. I'm totally looking forward to next year--if I could hire a time-thief--just for me--I would and I'd jump straight into the next one! I just can't say enough about how awesome it was!!!!

Oh if I'd been able to get Pages loaded onto my iPhone in time, I would've been using that instead of my laptop--it would've definitely alleviated some of my encumbrance issues! '-D But I did get it downloaded yesterday, so now I'll be putting my characters on there instead! '-D
Thank *you*! It was a perfect end to my PaizoCon weekend! Karissa was an interesting challenge as she's quite a bit different from most anything I've yet played. Most of my characters have been much more gregarious than she was. '-D So she was a cool challenge for me.

As I've said elsewhere, this has truly been a phenomenal con for me. I've been to one other gaming con, but this one is definitely one I'm coming back to come hell or high water! I loved how the Paizo staff were just as much a part of the con as the rest of us; I always felt like we of the con were one big family--whether staff or players--we all shared one passion--and it was just awesome. It's a tough one to come back from, that's for sure!
Yeah--I wish I had a doppelganger to take my day-job and a time machine to throw me ahead to next year's PaizoCon! Oh well--back to the plain and mundane world of blegh--
Thanks again Majuba for making those--they're great! And I had it just when it was needed--perfect cure for the post-con blues. '-)

I'd like to extend a huge thank you out to all the people of PaizoCon for a weekend that not only lived up to my expectations, but exceeded them. To Dale, Jason, Andrea, Robin, Walter an JP for their excellent GMing skills and not slaughtering the rookie on-sight '-) ; to all the many players who truly got out there and RPed, not just hack-n-slashed; to Cosmo and the other dealer-room staff who so expertly tracked down things I was looking for and even brought in a few in response to my frantic tweets; to Mark and Hiram (Hope I'm not butchering spellings here) who orchestrated the PFS tables and made sure we were all in the right spot according to level. Also to Mark for our conversation at the end there. I come away from the con with so many awesome memories--Uromi(sp) the tap-dancing bard and his player Andy's antics up on the chair when his countersong got through the villainess's shenannigans, the outrageously comical scene of mayhem as our group of 8 Kendar decided to hit the bar, then with one of the same players from that first session, finishing off the weekend with an intriguing investigation into the goings-on at Ramat Bridge. And I mustn't forget Majuba(sp) and his wondrous Goblin Brain!! It was kind of like one last lingering memory of the con as we were about to land back here in Anchorage...back to the plainness of day-to-day living. Know that I'll be coming back home away from home next year! '-) Many thanks to everyone once again!

Ah, yes, Jason Buhlman (SP--screen reader doesn't make the spelling clear--I remember him and his Youtube comment--and someone on Twitter having to identify him for me. '-)
Hey--thanksHey--thanks for the tip--I didn't know they had those! Thanks to you I did a little looking 'round in my restlessness.restlessness. Now I know that's an option! '-D

Yeah, ditto--I'm so hyped--been trying to sleep for a while now but am just too wired!
Uhhhhhh--yeah good point--I'm--uh--playing the Grand Melee--If I ended up at his table--I'd hate to die because he was taunted by someone on the boards-- '-D LOL

I take it you've had the hotel's coffee before? '-)

Thanks guys for all the ideas/pointers; looks like I'm going to have to wait til Fri. morning to leave the airport after all as the thing I was trying to sell off in order to make the shuttle isn't moving at all and I'm down to $0 til Fri. morning.
Ah, that's not bad weather at all! Much akin to what I spent 4 years with in Southeast AK. '-)
Exactly how late-night are you envisioning? '-)
I'm going to need something to fill the "banquet" slot; if you do it then I'm open to jumping in.

I'm going to be running an unofficial Pathfinder event this year at Gen Con: "Into the Pit of Thud!" It's a 5-hour Dungeon crawl for 5-7 pre-gen characters, pulled from "The Tomb of Haggemoth", a D20 campaign I wrote a few years back. I figured it would be fun to try running it at Paizocon. Gathering some materials, I've put everything I think I'll need in my trusty miniatures case and I'll be bringing it along.
All I need is a table and some people to sit around it. I know there's going to be space for open gaming, but I thought I'd throw open a thread here to see if there's anyone with suggestions on a When, Where, or with Who.
Hey there all,
I'd appreciate any advice for getting to the hotel for no more than $20 as that's about all I'm going to have to work with until Friday morning. Does anyone know if the buses run that late? I tried to jump on the taxi/shuttle-sharing thread, but I guess my arrival time doesn't fit with anyone, so am trying to see what other options I can find aside from waiting around in the airport til Fri. morning when pay comes in.
Thanks for any advice/pointers,
Gembar
Oh man--that could be challenging--was leaning toward the bard--but now I'm torn--

Just a quick preview. *ponders a Kender with a temper problem* Oh my!
Sounds like the Melee's more tactics/straight-up combat than it is RP; thinking I might re-evaluate my Fri. night and see what I can find in a more RP-centric leaning. '-)
Ah thanks! Got it up on my iPhone S I write (Though my connection started out sluggish.
Ah! Being one of the players of those 8 Kendar--just verifying, are they going to be pre-generated? This is the type of wild and wacky plot I've wanted to play for some time. '-)
Gembar (Terrence to mundane society.)
This is digressing I know--but what exactly IS the Grand Melee? How exactly does that work?
Thanks!

It seems like it would be doable, but then I'm pretty new to Pathfinder myself. I have a Gnome bard w/ a sailor theme that I could totally see doing something like that!
zmanerism wrote: I was looking at the spell dancing lights and saw that it can be made permanent and that it can be in the shape of a dimly lit humanoid. I wonder if one could have it the shape of a monkey and call it George or if one is playing a pirate character a glowing light that is shaped like a parrot. One could move it up to 190 feet away from oneself too. Let me know what you think and could this be done with RAW.
Dancing Lights
School evocation [light]; Level bard 0, sorcerer/wizard 0
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect Up to four lights, all within a 10-ft.-radius area
Duration 1 minute (D)
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no
Depending on the version selected, you create up to four lights that resemble lanterns or torches (and cast that amount of light), or up to four glowing spheres of light (which look like will-o'-wisps), or one faintly glowing, vaguely humanoid shape. The dancing lights must stay within a 10-foot-radius area in relation to each other but otherwise move as you desire (no concentration required): forward or back, up or down, straight or turning corners, or the like. The lights can move up to 100 feet per round. A light winks out if the distance between you and it exceeds the spell's range.
You can only have one dancing lights spell active at any one time. If you cast this spell while another casting is still in effect, the previous casting is dispelled. If you make this spell permanent, it does not count against this limit.
Dancing lights can be made permanent with a permanency spell.
I'm doing the Melee, Shadow's Last Stand 1-2, and Neoexodus 1; any advice on what would be best to bring to those sessions?
Thanks,
Gembar
Don't worry Varthanna, you're not alone. I've played a bit of PFS, but not as much as I'd like, and this is my first con. A related question for those with more experience than myself: How many characters do you generally have prepped? And/or, do you have 1 or more prepped for PFS and one or more for non-PFS separately?
Thanks,
Gembar the Level 1 con-person
Varthanna wrote: So having never been to a con or played PFS, is there any friendly advice people can share? I would love to hear some words of wisdom from the "pros", as it were, before I turn my weekend into a train wreck. :)
I sadly don't come in til 11:29 PM Thursday; the glories of flying in from AK after work.
Pardon me if this is either clearly stated somewhere or something we're just not supposed to know til we get there--but what exactly IS the Grand Melee? Is there actually a scenario/plot? Never done it before so am curious.

Gembar, are you using military time? am? or pm? (kinda makes a difference)
Ah, yes--it'll be 11:29 PM. '-) Guess I sorta took that for granted.
Ah; yes one of my lottery events is at 9 AM on Friday.

I'm all for more gaming since I too didn't manage to snag one of the tickets either. Especially PFS since PaizoCon is probably all the live PFS action I'm gonna get for a while.

I'm hoping to hang out with other rejects at the Hotel's bar (and bar area...there are tables...I think). After having spent *ahem* time there I can say there are indeed tables. Waltero and I are trying to get a group to do some PFS gaming while the banquet is going on. We had a few maybes and are still casting the net hoping to get some folks interested.

Ah, OK; I thought the first event was at 9 AM. But I've been wrong before. '-)
Ah, that explains it. So once the lottery's worked out the schedule will show up then. Thanks!
Yikes! Makes me wish I'd set my flight earlier--I get in at 11:54 PM Thursday night. Any time after that though--I'd love to have something to run Evrand through before I jump into official events--this is my first con and opportunities to play Pathfinder have, sadly, diminished as the group I was in died.
Gembar
Hello all,
When I go to "Show my Schedule" on the Events page, it comes up blank. Does this mean they're not done with 'em yet, or is this a browser issue?
Thanks in advance!
Hey is the .85 still around? Dang I wish I'd seen this thread earlier--if the .85 is still there, seek out Gembar, coming across the seas from the northwest sometime thursday night late. '-) Don't have a room # yet but you can't miss the guy w/ the white cane & the funky-looking Braille thing. '-)
