I will be doing my best to post information on the game I will be running Sunday. It is listed as "The Gifted Playtest." I am looking forward to running this game and hope those who play it will enjoy it.
There will be pregen characters and I want to post them here to give the players a chance to look over them and decide ahead of time which ones they will be playing. The pregens are characters my group at home has created to play this game, and each one has a custom class I spent the better part of the last couple months crafting for them. Most of the abilities are from PF or other D20 games, and the characters are all 1st level, so there should not be much to review and learn.
Each PC is a gifted individual who has learned to tap into a power or potential inside of them. The differnt abilities and powers vary from person to person, and mostly share a theme or interest of the individuals choosing. The level of potential is also dependent on the individuals ability and desire. Talent might give someone a boost at first, but it is the person who pushes themselves and strives with all their might who will become the most powerful. Lastly, there is a danger to using the supernatural powers. Under extreme conditions, if a Gifted is pushed too hard they can enter a state of overload. When this happens they become very powerful but uncontrollable.
The Gifted have been around for as long as man has. Though their history is uncertain, it is clear that some of the myths and legends of old were about Gifted. However, not long after the time of Christ the Gifted started hiding from the public eye for some unknown reason. Their numbers already small, they almost did not survive the Dark Ages, though the reason for their dwindling numbers is unclear. In more recent times, their numbers have started to rise. The Agency of Paranormal Science and Investigation, or APSI, was founded not long after the start of WWII to investigate and recuit Gifted to help in the war effort. Both sides of the war had their Gifted, though it their battles were kept secret by the APSI. The secrecy enforced by the APSI remains to this day.
The reasons for the secrecy have mostly to do with the small numbers of Gifted. To date, there are only a couple hundred Gifted, and though higher ups in the world governments know of them, the APSI has worked hard to keep their identities mostly unknown to anyone but them. It is feared that should the public truly learn about the Gifted, they would call for either destruction or their imprisonment.
The APSI do not have to loyalty of all the Gifted however. The APSI is the most powerful organization when it comes to the Gifted (some suspect in it is the most powerful in the world) so those who do not agree with their policy are often forced to comply to it. Recently a couple groups have caused much trouble for the agency, most notable are the Firestarters, a group of Gifted who have used terrorist actions, though the reasons why are unclear. The group consists of four Gifted, each of which are considered so dangerous that all agents of the APSI are ordered to never engage them, even if they feel they can handle the situation.
Public displays of power is of course strictly forbidden, and the punishments are often harsh. Often if warnings are not heeded, the offending person is locked up until it is believed that they can be released once more. Recently Riley Rhodes, a teen pop diva, has been using her powers over sound and light to spice up her concerts. She was warned and she promised to stop her public displays.
However, the oracle division of the agency picked up the great possibility that she will be killed in a failed kidnaping. The agency has only a few hours to assemble a team to keep her alive. Though the Oracle division is rarely wrong, they are also unclear on some details, so the team sent in will not have any information on what to expect or who the hostiles are. They will only know that they need to keep Riley alive at all cost.
Cool thanks for the info,looking forward too seeing the pregens. I also thought that I would let you know that 2 people that are coming with me to the con are also in the same game so that will be cool,that was a nice surprise.

If I have time, I will post more information on the pregen PCs. For now here is some basic description and background.
Ace "The Knight"
Claiming to be a warrior from another world, Acroyear, called Ace by his associates, was found wandering a South American desert by the APSI. So far, it appears his only power is to be able to manifest a blade of energy from his fist, though he claims he once had greater power and that his accidental travel to our world must have weakened him considerably. Not sure what else to do with him, he has been given a position in a newly created investigative team.
Ace is a tall, strong man who has proved to be naturally talented in combat. He is bald, and has a dark tanned skin that appears to be very weather beaten. He is a bit of a smart ass though, and though he has a respect for authority, his superiors have found his wise crack comments to be too much at times, and his bedside manner has caused harm to investigations. He makes up for it in loyalty, as he is honest and honorable to his friends.
James Bryson "The Wall"
A generally pleasant person to be around, James was brought into the agency after not one accidents that caused him to experience power overload, but two. A Canadian librarian who discovered his powers in a horrible car accident, James picked up the code name "The Wall" because of his ability to resist extreme harm. He first discovered his powers when his car was involved in a horrible accident that killed three and injured five. The agency had to be called in however as he experienced power overload in the event and nearly killed the rescue team that arrived shortly thereafter. He was neutralized and kept somewhat sedated until it was clear he was back in control. Later, he became involved in a shoot out while investigating a case for the agency. He ended experiencing overload again, taking the life of one agent in the process. He almost didn't live through the experience, losing most of his memory afterwards. He now heads a new investigative team, hoping to redeem himself from his unfortunate past and show that he can control his powers.
James has an average build, height, though he is pretty solid and tough dispute his appearance. He has curly blonde hair and sports a full beard he keeps neatly trimmed. He can be kind and pleasant, but he is often reserved and stone faced. On the job he is direct, business like, and to the point. He does use his powers sparingly, but he will be the first to put himself between his friends and danger.
Katrina Ombré "The Shadow Master"
Born in New Orleans, Katrina was a lucky one and was able to escape the famed city only a few months before the hurricane that shared her name caused widespread destruction. She returned to help with the recovery and clean up, but found conditions so bleak it pushed her to the edge. Though she had been raised in family that practiced Voodoo on occasion, it wasn't until then that she started to embrace her heritage. The details of how are unknown, as she only remembers figments of the event, but she ended up in Canada on the same night she was participating in a harmless Voodoo ritual practiced weekly by a small local congregation. She does remember being swept up in the moment though. From that moment on, her powers over shadow and darkness slowly grew. The APSI approached her after an accidental and unintentional use of her powers drew their attention. She has been with the agency for a couple years now, and recently finished her training. She was assigned to the new investigative team headed by James.
Katrina is shorter then the other team members, though she has a formidable look about her. Her dark skin and deep eyes only reenforce her given code name, while her dark humor and natural gravitation to the macabre keep people from seeing the kind and giving person she really is. While on the job she does her best to control her creepiness, focusing on helping people and finding the hidden clues.
Benjamin Collins "The Thief"
A con man from the UK, Ben almost slipped from the agency's notice because of his restraint in using his powers. Knowing he was special from a young age, he gradually grew into his powers while living practically homeless in London. Living off what his father stole from others in a variety of ways, he learned the art of conning by observation. Eventually, he discovered he could pick small and hidden details with nothing more then slight glance, and with some training he learned how to pull off heists. It was during one of these heists that he used one of his powers and attracted the attention of the agency. He tried to run at first, but he was eventually caught by Interpol in Berlin. Giving him an opportunity to put his skills to good use, the APSI offered him a deal. He would agree to work for them and his record would be wiped clean. At first he wasn't going to take it, but news of his father dying in a failed con changed his mind.
Benjamin is a slender and tall man, with a fair complexion and blue eyes. His hair color changes just about every time he has his hair cut, but currently it is black. He likes to wear expensive suits and he has a great sense of style. He could have easily been a model if his life had been any different. He always has a smile, and Is the life of the party wherever he goes, but those closest to him know he always has an angle and is always trying to pull a fast one.
Riley Rhodes "The Dazzler"
Born to the lead man in the hair band Roadhead, Riley knows nothing but a life of luxury and plenty. She was born with talent, both in performing music but also in manifesting powers. Recognized by the agency early in her life, her father Darren Rhodes was approached and told what to expect as his daughter grew up. He was also given instructions to control her and keep her from using her powers in public. Naturally, Riley was not always easy to keep in line. The disappearance of her mother didn't help her behavior, but she did learn to act like an angel in public. As a teen she was able to break into the music industry and becomes pop star very quickly with her fathers help and connections. Appearing in movies and even having her own fashion line made her one of the richest teens in the world. Recently she turned 18, and started to become more independent. Thinking she no longer needed her father's or the agency's permission, she used her powers in a couple of her concerts in front of thousands. It was covered up and explained away easily enough but the wrath of the agency humbled her enough stop. However, the results of her actions has brought her unneeded attention.
Riley stands a little shorter the girls her age, but she is a knock out woman. Her fair and perfect complexion are the envy of teen girls every where, and her blonde hair with silver tips has been copied by the most adoring fans. She knows how to talk to people to make the. Feel special, but those who spend enough time around her know she is her to be arrogant and spoiled. Unless she can see that it clearly benefits her, she won't often follow other peoples advice. That said, she has been known to help people unsolicited, though this isn't commonly the case.
