Need help setting up a "Players Guide"

Gamer Life General Discussion

I am a GM setting up a retool of an established 3.5 game world, but I want to make it a special start up. I plan to do a player's guide with a polished presentation that mirrors the professional presentation of a paizo download, but do not have the capability to replicate the pages or formats or fonts they use...any direction would be appreciated.

Go old School. In Word, there is a Title font and Body font. I recommend you use the Title font to type the body of the text. Times actually swaps these fonts (Title for Text/Text for title).

Gazetteer is a Title font from Early D&D Products. Find it. The Australian Government has a free version somewhere.

Dungeon Master’s Guide to <setting name>

History as the Gods Know it
Geography
Society
Races
Social Standing
Religion
Societies and Organization
Language
Currency and Trade
Governance
Crime and Punishment
Relations with Other Nations

Adventures

Player’s Guide to <setting name>
History as the people of <setting name> know it
Creating <setting name> Characters
Special Rules

The Wierd page art? I think they split the object down the middle of the page and put each in the head and Foot.

There is a guy, Kirth Gersen, on the boards who house ruled about 90% of the game. He basically re-wrote the core book in Word. If what you are looking for is formatting and fonts his house rules would be a good place to start. His work is very good and it looks professional, minus the artwork.

Here is the link

I hope that helps. Good luck.

Are you generally asking for advice on what content to put in it (as Dingo addressed) or how to make it look fancy (as Demogorgon addressed)?

Thx,

Rez

Just trying to make it look fancy...want it to look like it was produced as a professional paizo product using the same page formating, font and "look"

They Purchased their fonts and likley had a better document editor than MS WORD.

You need to select a font in keeping with your setting.

They double column with perhaps average width borders, and it could be a B5 page size even though it PDFs out like an A4.
