Roads in Golarion?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I recently got the Inner Sea World Guide and am looking at the map folio next, but I've got a question first. Are there any maps of the roads in, and between, the nations or is that something left up to the GM to devise?

We have only rarely included roads on the maps. Mostly because we have never had the luxury of being able to place all of the possible villages, towns, and cities on any regional map to an extent where we're comfortable saying "That's it! no more villages!" By not placing roads on the map, we can place new towns and cities and villages a lot easier as adventure writers and novelists find the need to do so.

Sometimes, for very zoomed-in maps like those around a city, we'll show roads, but otherwise we feel that they're usually too small to represent well on a big map, and are so numerous that the map would become a scribble. You're the GM--roads can go wherever you need them to. Use your best judgment!

Awesome fast reply, thanks.

Yeah, I wasn't looking for all of them, or most, or ... a fraction really. I definitely know how trying to show even half the roads at any scale would turn into a major undertaking and, as mentioned, clutter up the map.

I was mainly curious, and failed to specify, about the main trade routes and maybe major intranation routes. But hey, that's what a printer and colored pencils are for. :)

Thanks again!

I guess that find major high quality roads (like good old Roman rods of southern and western Europe) stretch from Taldor to Cheliax, at least those parts that survived poor maintenance for a last few hundred years. Bureaucracy of decadent empires can do wonders with letting things fall apart.
