Should I be concerned?

I received my Ultimate Magic today, I opened it, and was startled to hear A LOT of crackling. Upon further investigate I discovered the binding of the pages completely separated from the spine of the hardcover. When I hold the book up like a T ... (covers open) I can actually seem through the gap between the binding and the cover's spine.

Should I be concerned the cover is going to separate from the pages?

My Core Rulebook was getting like that. A good squeeze of Gorilla Glue from both sides and it was back together just fine. I should have made sure I kept it from growing out of the ends but it was the first time I'd done it. Now it's solid as a rock.

In the binding method our current printer uses, the white fabric strip is not supposed to be glued to the spine itself. (The printer we used for the first two printings of the Core Rulebook used a different process, and that strip *was* glued to the spine.)

I'm actually very impressed by the quality of the more recent hardcovers; both Ultimate Magic and The Inner Sea World Guide have a really nice texture to the pages. I hadn't realised you'd changed printer, but that explains it.

Ok, just making sure because even the Inner Sea World Guide isn't like this. Granted it's not big enough to fit a pencil through, but I just don't want it to be a problem in a few months. ;)

I may be confused then—both books are bound with the same process; the fabric isn't glued to the spine in either product.

It has been quite a while since we changed printers. The first printer did the first and second printings of the Core Rulebook and the first printing of the Bestiary; the new printer has done the third and fourth printings of the Core Rulebook, the second printing of the Bestiary, and every other PFRPG hardcover I haven't mentioned.

It just doesn't look right and it doesn't seem like the first group of pages is actually attached to the fabric spine.

Hard to tell from the first photo, but the second photo looks pretty much just like my copy.

Ok. Just making sure, I don't want an early death. :)
