My players want to play returning to Xin-Shalast 6 months after their defeat of Karzoug, leading a Pathfinder expedition. I'm finding myself short on inspiration.
I have the book detailing the city post Karzoug, I'm just having difficulties with coming up with specific encounters to throw at the party.
So, I was wondering if anyone else has done a return adventure and if so, what you did.
Thanks!

There is an official product which details the Post-Karzoug Xin-Shalast: Lost Cities of Golarion.

Consider what organization the players want to fight. Then, imagine a directive within that organization — for aeons they've wanted to find Xin-Shalast and recover some artifact, they were just waiting for its discovery. If the players have kept it a secret, the organization may have learned about them through divination and are coming after the PCs.
For threats within the city... I think you are pretty much obligated to destroy it. The lost city crumbling under earthquake like conditions is a staple trope. I would actually crib the "rivers of molten gold" thing from City of Golden Death (and Duck Tales before that, IIRC) and use that as a premise for some action-packed conflict with whatever organization opposes the players.

And just like that, my imagination has been kick-started. As soon as I read the response, ideas starting popping into my head. Thanks much. :)

I took a crack at Gargadros "the Rune-bound King". For the party that wiped Karzoug out that stat block would need some modification to make a suitable BBEG to commandeer the hordes of slavering rune giants (and other giants, like ogre magi!).
As written they came across his corpse in HMM (if memory serves). With Karzoug's messy demise, per that was something more than just a corpse ...

You're welcome! This is why AP forums are the best part of the site.
If you really want to pay me back, post in my Mapping Runeforge thread. I'm going to be starting that massive process in about two weeks!
