Panic in the Heartland Help!

Going to run my first event tomorrow, and I am in somewhat of a panic. I think I have enough modules to run, and enough people to GM (I HOPE!!) but since I have no idea how many people will show up, I have no idea.

ANYWAY!! I downloaded the first module (Written in Blood, Shades of Ice Part 1) but I did not get a PFS sheet showing tiers, XP, rewards and MI and the like, (whatever the hell it is called! LOL). I downloaded the module BEFORE I had the event actually posted on the website, so is that why I did not get one? How do I go about getting one (or making it up.) before tomorrow?

Don't worry, I am leaving my computer now to rip through all my crap to look again to make sure I did not misplace it. I looked through the download and did not see that page in the file; yes, I will triple/quintuple check that.

Hence, my panic! Any advice or answers?

Thanks in advance.

the chronicle sheet should be the last page of the PDF...

Silver Crusade 5/5

It should be the very last page in the PDF. Also, calm down. Panicing never helped anyone.

As our gnomish friends have stated, the chronicle is the last page of a scenario. You will also need to print the reporting sheet. You can download it from the events page in you PFS homepage. If you are offering more than three tables, print an extra copy.

Unless you have some reason to think there will be a run on your event, don't be discouraged if the turnout is less than expected. It often takes a few weeks for the word to travel about your game.

Be sure to have extra copies of pregen characters and blank character sheets as many of your players could be brand new to PF/PFS. It's also not a bad idea, if you have them, to have extra minis, pencils, and dice.

Question: I noted you are from Iowa (Go HAWKEYES! No creepy-ness intended, btw). I was born there, but, my question is this: Do you ever go to the convention in Sioux City? Is there any PFS run there? I lost the URL for the website, but I think it is still running......

Thanks for advice! Folks around here have been running PFS, but this is my first effort running an event....hence my minor panic, (I am slightly anal when it comes to planning and running things.) I have already done the things you suggested! So any other gems you might think of - let me know!

Thanks,

I'm not sure which con your talking about in Sioux City. But M.A.G.E. (Midwest Area Gaming Enthusiasts) puts on two cons there every year. M.A.G.E. Con Spring (Memorial Day weekend) AND M.A.G.E. Con Fall (Labor Day weekend). I have participated in these in the past (I'm from SD). I'm not sure if they will have PFS. I know that in the past they have run LG and then LFR. I'd be interested in running/playing PFS at these cons but they are on weekends that I am always busier with the family.

Fear not! If your event follows the most common pattern, you'll have fewer than you anticipated to start out with, but more players will drop in as things develop. Try not to let them trip up your GM groove.

Have the following:

1. All your needed Pathfinder supplies, books, dice, etc. (regular gaming gear) including the guide to organized play.

2. A copy of the adventure. Bookmark monsters in the Bestiary (or print copies) and spells or class features that you might need to double-check during the adventure.

3. A battlemat or maps. If you can predraw fight locations or use Paizo's flip-mats, that keeps things moving during the session.

4. Two of each iconic character.

5. Blank character sheets.

6. Extra sign-up sheets.

5. Minis (and minis to lend)

6. Pathfinder Society cards.

7. Something to drink and a snack if needed. Bring some for folks who forget: It keeps them from needing to break while they get something.

8. Extra chronicle sheets.

9. Something to use as character tents: something to show their name and character name/picture/etc., which people can put in front of their spot at the table.

10. Index cards: They're just handy.

During the game, keep an eye out for folks who could be recruited into your GM pool. You can never have too many GMs.

Last I knew M.A.G.E. was pushing LFR still, haven't been up ther in several years but I know the guy that runs the stuff there fairly well.

Your always welcome down in Omaha too for one of our conventions or game days.

Lol.

Welcome to the world of being a local coordinator. It's a lovely and terrifying mismash of uncertainty, pain, and suffering...needless to say, I'm addicted.

I would *strongly* suggest setting up a warhorn site and training your players to use it and setting up a mailing list (yahoo group or google group) and forcing people (at swordpoint, if necessary) to get on those lists.

Good luck.

Another good page to use to set up your group is Obsidian Portal, It has a wiki you can keep track of things in, a Character section where people can put their PCs, a Forum that you can pass messages along with and a calendar you can using for scheduling, but the calendar is limited in function, Warhorn works better for scheduling.

FYI - I just got a postcard for M.A.G.E. Con Spring. It's May 6-8, in South Sioux City at the Marina Inn and Convention Center.

WOW!! A lot of great advise! I will look into the sites noted. I have already established a Yahoo Group but was unaware of the others.

All the kind advice and assistance is GREATLY appreciated. I thought I would let you know how things went since everyone was so really kewl about quick responses and all.

I had 16 people attending and 4 sessions were run, folks came from as far as 3 hours away to play. Two sessions for 6-8 and two sessions for 1-4. I ran the lower level tier and the guy who has run a lot of events locally ran the higher bunch. I think it is safe to say all had a gr8 time! I know I did.

The players were great and those at my table had a lot more XP playing PF than I did, and were VERY generous in allowing me to re-learn the rules. I have been playing D&D for centuries but am a late comer to PF.
All things considered, it actually went very well. Without Mike (my cohort in crime) it would not have been possible, however.

Thanks again for all the help!
