A Query about the OGL

If someone created a new RPG, that was not d20 based, or related to 3.5 or any variant thereof, is there anything that prevents them from publishing it under the OGL?

I'm pretty sure there's nothing stopping you, in fact I seem to remember there being a non d20 game released under it early on

I think you could, but at that point the question would be why?

Because you want to support open game mechanics without hiring a lawyer to craft your own personal license?

I think it would be a good idea for any new RPG company. If 3PP have the ability to easily create additional supplemental material for your game, it is much more likely to see a wider audience.
