Book of the Damned (y / n)?

So, a splatbook for devils. That's been done before, goodness knows.

How does this one compare? What's the crunch/fluff ratio, how cool is the new stuff, and how easy/hard is this to adapt into interesting adventures?

It is mostly flavor(fluff). It is basically the Paizo version of devils and their history. Whether it is worth getting or not depends on how much you like devils, and how dedicated you are to do things Golarion style. It is not a bad read though.

As for how hard it is adapt to an adventure it is no harder than the 3.5 stuff.

Not quite as good as the demon book though.

Oh p'shaw, James. Why you want to slum it with those ruffians, I'll never understand.

Of course, the one we're all really waiting for is the one on Div.

+1 ;-)

Of course, both books shall be instantly forgotten when the daemon volume, Book of Fiends vol.3: Harbingers of Annihilation, written by Todd Stewart, page count 256, hits the shelves.

What makes you think that book deserves and will get 192 more pages than Wes and I gave ourselves to write about OUR favorite fiends?

The fact that Todd overwrites his assignments and I'll make it sure to get him to send me the draft manuscript (dunno how, maybe some My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic merch will do) :-)

Because the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are 5x more badass, which when multiplied by 4 and the added to awesome=256 pages :-)

I neither confirm nor deny something that isn't on the product schedule.

But in the event that it does, and if I happen to be the one working on it: I want the individual Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Fluttershy (matching how they look on the show) which AFAIK are in some Eurozone countries and in Canada, but not released in the US (we only got the large set with Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, Spike, and GodEmpress Celestia.

... why is everyone staring at me like that?

An author should not be rewarded for breaking the rules, though.

Overwriting is not a virtue. (makes more grumpy editor sounds, slumps off into the swamp)

And running joke about me and word limits aside, I've hit those word limits ever since that one time I didn't. :)

Book of the Damned Vol 1 was released Oct 2009.
Book of the Damned Vol 2 was released Dec 2010 (although I believe it was scheduled for before then.)

Oct-Dec 2011 have yet to be announced for the chronicles line. I'm betting we'll see a Vol 3 before the end of this year.

Yup! That's why you're still writing for us! :-)

Seriously, though... Todd's a GREAT writer. Very creative and very evocative writer. "The Great Beyond" was the first major project he did for Paizo, and he went a little overboard as a result. But the fact that he took our feedback from that and adjusted his writing technique so that he's more or less hit word counts since then is a perfect example of "high-quality freelance author behavior." :-)

Anyway, yeah. Folks are very perceptive in noting we haven't announced October's releases yet.

Something tells me there'll be a Bestiary 3 before the end of this year, too. That will be a very nice ending to the year, with both Book of the Damned Vol 3 and Bestiary 3 to be perused during Christmas season :)

No one is staring, dear. It must be your paranoia acting up. Did you take your meds?

(Everyone, tune down the staring, he's on to us! We don't want to move before we're sure we can get him)
