So, I'm trying to do this Player's Option thing using the Pathfinder rules, where instead of using archetypes or swapping out racial powers on a 1-for-1 basis, racial abilities and class features have point costs and every character gets so many points to spend.
I'm working on Human, and aside from the general dearth of features for Humans, I want to use a base Human race to represent all of your Half Elves and Half Orcs. One of their racial options is the ability to choose another race and buy that race's features at a slight mark-up.
The problem is, I obviously don't want this to apply to any race but I don't know how to word the rule. I want to allow all of the standard PC races plus Orc, Goblin, and Hobgoblin and leave it open for other humanoids, but the Humanoid type includes all kinds of unsuitable creatures.
My first thought was to limit it by subtype, but Goblinoid includes Bugbears and Giant includes Trolls and true Giants.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?

With the Demon Mother's Mask, anything is possible. Including Boggataurs = Boggards + Centaurs! They bounce around on 4 legs, frolic in the swamps and lakes of Golarion, and hunt for giant dragonflies.
Or James Jacobs = Human + Large size T-Rex companion. Sure he is a lycanthrope, but he is COOL! Kinda like Koopa from the Super Mario Bros. movie mixed with a Dinobot...

I would think you could conceivably crossbreed any two humanoids within one size category of each other.
Hopefully the female is the larger of the two.
"Humanoid" includes kobold, lizardfolk, and tengu. I'm inclined to view Humans fertility as a racial trait akin to that of outsiders and dragons, but I think including non-mammals is pushing it too far.
What's wrong with bugbears? They've never seemed buggy nor beary to me to begin with, but just another type of gobliny thing.
Thinking about it, bugbears and gnolls probably aren't too far out of line, perhaps as more expensive options.

This might have something to help you.
After reading just a few pages of this, I'm seeing inspiration from AD&D 2e: Skills & Powers, D&D 3.5, Pathfinder, and Alternity. Also I like it so far. :)
I wish it had a table of contents so I could just get a quick look at all of what's in it.This still a work in progress or are you pretty much done with it and just use it in conjunction with both 3.5 and PF core books?

Kirth tends to forget about tables of contents. :) As far as I know, it is a completed work.
