I have an idea I want to develop for a PC or NPC but I'm stuck on geneology.
I'm hoping to hear some creative ideas for ways to make this character's maternal family tree work out a certain way.
Here's what I got:
The character is born in Nithveil, deep in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, to a viking and a--
The mother of this character is a Varisian gypsy with a strong bloodline to Cheliax; indeed, she has to be Tiefling.
The mother travels to the Lands of the Linnorm Kings specifically to concieve this child in Nithveil with an unknown, prophesied viking.
After conception, gestation and birth in Nithveil she will take the infant "back" to Cheliax to raise according to what she wants/ interprets from this Infernal prophesy.
---------------------------------------
So my problem is this mother's ethnicity. I want her Varisian -- classic bohemian gypsy. But she also HAS to be Chelish. My feeling is that it's best if her father were of Cheliax and her mother Varisian. But that's not how it has to be, necessarily. And that doesn't answer anything of how her parents met or where they raised her.
What could her family tree and childhood story be?

Your best bet is to have her parents come from Korvosa. While Korvosa is in Varisia, it still retains a LOT of its Chelish roots and traditions. There's a lot of mix between Varisians and Chelaxians there... in fact, there's a lot of mix between the two ethnicities throughout Varisia, so Korvosa isn't the only option. ANY of the cities in Varisia will work fine.

Ah, I hadn't thought of it but it fits nicely, THANKS!
In my view of Golarion Korvosa is part of Cheliax (the way it was in history) so it would be easy to have the maternal grandfather from Korvosa where he meets the Varisian woman with whom he concieves a daughter, my character's mother.
Alas, I still need a story
