I am about to start running RotR using the Pathfinder rules and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which XP track would work best since it was originally published for 3.5.
Has anyone had any success with one over the other?
The Fast Experience Track best mimics the 3.5 progression.
PathfinderRPG characters are a little more capable then their 3.5 counterparts; however, so you also be able to run it with the Medium experience track.

I'm doing RoRL right now with a party of 5. I just level them when the AP says "you're party should be level X right now."
It really simplifies the job of the DM.
I was going to do that as well, but then I wound up with people missing multiple sessions in a row, without doing as much leg work as the rest of the party.
I switched it to the fast track, though I think they are a bit ahead of schedule. Im sure itll balance out within a couple levels, considering how big of a difference the levels are from 3.5 to PF conversion.

I'm running it on the Medium XP track. My group's a little behind the level progression projected for the books (possibly because they're splitting XP five ways instead of four), but they've been destroying the standard encounters easily enough that I've been adjusting the difficulty upward to keep them challenged. This is just at Level 2 to 3 in Burnt Offerings, too, so I suspect I'd be going insane if they were on the Fast progression.

You're going to regret that decision the moment they say "hi" to Xanesha ;-)

Xanesha is the only encounter in the books that I'm planning to run exactly as written (or, well, as close to "exactly" as my party's actions up to that point will let me) just because I am dying to see how these guys do against that TPK machine.
The only change I've made, for plot-smoothing purposes, is to combine Xanesha and Lucrecia into one character. But as far as the mechanics go, I'm running that one by the book if at all possible.

I have been using the medium advancement path for my PC's.
My party is comprised of 5 PC's and I find that if I run ROTL as written, by the end of an AP the party is usually 1 level below where they should be to start the next installment.
Doing so has given me the leeway to run a short side trek adventure between each of the RotRL installments. Essentially it allows me to make a short (1 level worth of Xp) adventure that I use to delve into characters backgrounds and tie them into events appearing later on in the adventure path.
Is worked great for us sofar.
If your sticking only to the AP, use the Fast advancement if you want the PC's to stay on track, especially with groups bigger than 4.
Oh and Xanesha is brutal, I'd read her tactics and run her as written. I don't believe you'll need to buff her at all. Its a tough fight.

Ok, I didn't know that Xanesha was such a TPK machine. I was initially hesitant to level my guys up to lvl 5 (which the AP recommends) between Misgivings and Magnimar. Is this is a mistake? Should I level my gang up to five PCs prior to the Xanesha fight?
At Level 6, she may still eat them alive.
(Also, Page 40 of the Skinsaw Murders says that the party should 6th Level before heading to Magnimar.)
