PbP Avatars

I'm not sure how feasible it would be but I don't think it'd be massively time consuming so I'd like to suggest the following. Would it be possible to have the Avatars updated to include a picture of each NPC that has a picture in the adventure paths currently in print. As a pbp GM it would probably help with the visualization of NPCs if I had their actual pictures to use as Avatars. I understand if this isn't something that would be seen as particularly important but I'd love it, I'd also presume some others would too :)

that would help even if one wasn't playing an AP, to have NPC avatars for GMs in the pbp forum

I think virtually all of the Second Darkness avatars are available now, and I know there are at least some from Legacy of Fire. They generally go up in batches when someone has the time to do it, but I'm not sure if you can count on all of them going up since they started to make the Face cards. (I don't know if the Face cards repeat any characters already in the avatars, but if not, they might be keeping art in reserve for future card products.)

CotCT avatars are also up at present. However it has been a LONG time since any new avatars from AP's have been added. Which is a shame because KM has some awesone ones.

As much as I love the APs and can respect that everyone at Paizo has a lot on their plates, I tend to see the forums as a free service for running these products that we buy from them. It's really frustrating to have great artwork in the printed and PDF AP issues but not be able to use them in PbPs because it takes over a year for them to get added.

Yes, at this point KM and SS have both completed without ANY avatars from either — that's 12 months of product. A year.

I had to use one of those generic Red Mantis avatars in place of the absolutely gorgeous artwork of Chivane from the cover of SS#3. Likewise I had to make do with existing artwork for all NPCs from SS#1. For some like Sasha and Ishirou I could find decent substitutes, but I had to actually change the descriptions of Jask and Gelik, and use a pic of Iomedae for Aerys. >.<

What a waste of the custom artwork from the books... :(

Agree that some image updates are long overdue as well... given there's now a wealth of material through the AP's, sourcebooks, adventures and supplements. The art from the PFS scenarios also offer some great avatar's for pbp

Agree. I know the PbP forums and doing things for them seems to have an air of no profit around them, but that simply isn't true. Hundreds of us regularily buy products purely to fuel a PbP habit ;)

Maybe making a moderator or two from the forums, not myself but people who've been here a long time and have a decent bank of trust, and give them the ability to upload images would be an easy way of doing this.

It would also be neat if the avatars could be sorted by category.

All Second Darkness, All Rise of the Runelords, All Humanoids, All Animals, All Dragons, All Monsters, All Wesley Crusher, etc.

It's a tad tiresome having to load thirty pages to find that one dragon avatar I was looking for, for instance.

Some of the headshots from Seeker of Secrets are gorgeous, and I'd love to see those added, as well.

Yanno, as long as I'm asking for lots of extra work that has no real value-added. :)
