Silana silently observes the exchange between the charismatic Quioxti and the information broker, her face betraying no emotion, smiling at the fact that her companion may have finally met his match.

Seeing no other option than to go along with this job, as a means to an end, Silana finally chimes in, adding to the atmosphere with her usual reply.

"This better be fun."

Torillan listens to the exchange intently, hoping the silver-tongued rogue can get as much from the information broker as possible.

Torillan leans closer to Silana and whispers "You still haven't given me your definition of fun", smiling at his attempt at a jest.

Gregor glares at Quioxti. He then mumbles something about doors being very different than chests.

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

Seemingly oblivious to Butter's mutterings, Quioxti looks about the room. "So, where are these pesky locks that are giving you such trouble?"

The servant guides you to a room with 5 altars, each one with one different chest:

1-The lock of this iron cask contains a laughing devil’s head.
2-This red box has been inset with a trio of golden faces: the first appears stern, the second angry, and the third fumes with hatred.
3-The lid of this stone chest is covered with a relief of carved ivy.
4-This sealed stone chest has no visible lock or hinges. No decoration or writing of any kind can be found.
5-A strange stylized writing wraps around the whole of this rectangular chest. Stranger still are the ten small pores that run along the box’s lid.

Which one will you investigate first? Will you investigate a different chest each of you?

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Intrigued Gregor cautiously approaches the sealed stone chest with no lock and examines it closely.

Preception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Well, what do we have here?
I'm fine with useing Aid Another or each takeing a chest, or a little of both.

Sovereign Court

Taking Gregor's lead, Torillan walks slowly up to the unmarked chest (#4). He stares intently at it, moving his eyes slowly over the surface.

Perception check:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

Quioxti looks the chests over for a moment. As Gregor and Torillan begin examining the unmarked chest, he approaches the rectangular chest with the perforated lid. Passing his hand over the stylized writing, he begins quietly muttering syllables and half words to himself in several different tongues.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

"When you see the whites of my teeth, dear Torillan, that's when I'm having fun." Silana says sarcastically.

Silana looks over each chest, trying to look for anything useful that she, or her companions, could use to open them.

Perception = 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Gregor notices that there is something that veil his vision. Could it be an illusion spell? He manipulates the chest with closed eyes and he manages to open it. Inside the chest he find a collection of material components for a wealth of spells (value 500 gp but 70 lbs. of weight).

I suppous Quioxti has gone for number 5. I need a perception check for each chest you try, please.
Silana: your perception check will be applied to the chest number 1. If you want to search the other chests, you have to roll it separately.

A successful search performed by Silana reveals that the devil’s head can be turned in both directions, like a combination lock, but without numbers to act as a guide.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Ahaaa! Giving Quioxti a smug glance Gregor steps back from the now open chest. Lets see which one next...
Seeing Silana find the trick with the first chest the dwarf moves over next to the archer. Nice work lass. Now lets see if I can work with this.
pulling out his tools Gregor starts fiddleing with the lock.

Quiotxi studies the fifth chest intently, oblivious to his companions. Unable to read the script, he begins exploring the holes next.

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1

EDIT: Man, there's a winning die roll!

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

Silana, happy with her findings on the first chest, moves along to the next available unopened chest.

Perception = 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

"This is getting to be something of a bore...when does the real fun start?"

Sovereign Court

At first glance, Torillan doesn't see anything special about the plain box. He takes a closer look now, his brow slightly furrowed as he concentrates on the surface of the box to see anything new.

Perception check #2:

Take 20 = 22

Gregor disables the device without problem. Inside the treasure you find a lost treatise entitled “The Inward Facing Circle” written by Coganaris the Wracker, a famed Chelish devil-binder, along with scrolls of protection from evil and protection from good.

Quiotxi seems to be confused with the box with the holes.

Silana seems to release that the box of the golden faces reacts to a strong emotion state.

Torillan, that box has been opened already by Gregor, so you have to search another one. And you can't take 20 or 10 because you have no time to loose. The final attack can be performed at anytime.

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

Quioxti picks up his box and shakes it gently. Next he puts his eye up to a few of the holes as he attempts to peer inside, followed by an ear, then a finger.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Sorry...I thought he went for another box. Reread posts and clarified.

Torillan watches warily as each box is opened by the others.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

What’s that Silana, it reacts to strong emotion? These certainly are peculiar chests. Gathering his tools Gregor wanders over to the chest carved with Ivy and begins looking it over. As he works he pauses for a moment and looks back over at the ranger.
Lass, do you think that chest of yours would open if I worked myself up into a rage? I think I have the energy if you though it would work.
Preception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Quiotxi shakes the chest and find what it seems to be... a music score?

If Gregor wants to enter rage to show a strong emotion to the chest, I want him to write down in the post all the dwarven insults he will shout ^_^

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

Sorry about the scarce posting, guys, I am going through some family issues at the moment, and will be back on saturday.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

GM only:
Assuming Yargos is in the room with us, and while my companions are currently occupied, if not ignore please.

Silana steps toward Yargos, her voice little more than a whisper.

"Yargos, can I have a quiet word with you please."

Silana stand close, careful to lower her voice so that none may over-hear that which is being said.

"Whatever your endeavours may be, I have it on good authority that the Eagle Knights will be there to back you up, should the need arise. I would prefer this information stay between you and me, but so you know, there are people who appreciate you, and are willing to help if needed. I will also do everything I can to assure your safety in this situation with the code book and all."

With that, Silana moves to the chest with the small pores on it's lid.

Okay dwarf, you do your, angry thingie, and I'll help with the other boxes, the quicker we get this done, the quicker I can have some sharp, pointy words with a few certain people!."

Silana steps toward another chest, attempting to understand what the small pores are for.

Perception =1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Silana only:

Yargos is not with you in this room.

Silana gets near another chest. The lid of this stone chest is covered with a relief of carved ivy. She search the chest and finds the individual letters of a riddle cleverly carved in between the leaves on the chest’s lid. It says:
"Though different now sounds my name, the spelling
still remains the same.
Once prior leap of might, now becomes bird of white."

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

"Hmm, this one mentions birds of some kind...but the it mentions leaping, wait, this one could be talking about doves, as the word is also diving!"

Silana feels very accomplished at working out this riddle, and hopes to gods it works. She speaks the word dove to the chest, hoping that it opens.

The chest seems to react at the word "Dove" spoken by Silana and it opens. In the interior can be found a collection of over 40 rare incenses along with a book of instruction. If burned in the proper combination, the incense collection can replicate a single use of incense of meditation.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Three down two to go right?
1-laughing devil’s:- Open
2-trio of golden faces: - Closed, Possibley opened with rage
3-carved ivy:- Closed, Gregor is currently looking this one over
4-sealed stone:- Open
5-stylized writing & small pores: - Open
I don't want to rage until we get the other chest open since afterwards I'll be fatigued.

The carved chest has only a clue: a musical score. Maybe made for flute.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Gregor picks at the chest with his tools for a bit, trying desperately to find some way of opening it.
Disable Device:1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 = 13
As he works the dwarf becomes more and more agitated.
Ruttin', piece of dug! Why in the name of the gods do people have to make things so gorram difficult! Probably made by some bloody Elf! Aye it must be elven look! Rutting musical notes! Only any Elf would be daft enough to make a chest that you open with a gorram flute and not a key!
RRRRRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Throwing his tool on the ground Gregor rushes to the chest with the three faces and begins tearing furiously at the lid.
Rage 6/7; if necessary

When Gregor show his rage, the chest that's holding (the holed chest) doesn't react, but the three golden head chest begin to sound like a picklocked device and opens. The interior has a collection of ancient stone miniatures of a Viking army from the Land of the Linnorm Kings.

And yes, Gregor, the rage use was necessary.
Ok, guys, only the holed chest, with the music score, remaining.
But I remember you: only 3 opened chest are required for the information broker to help you.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

"Well we have 3 of the 5 chests open, that was the deal, no point in trying to open the rest, he can bloody well pay someone else to do it for him. Let's get this information and go shal wee, we have a job to do."

Silana happy to be going, walks back to the information broker with the news that 3 of his chests are now open.

What about the others? Say the same?

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Oh if we only needed 3 chest open Gregor would have not raged or made those derogatory comments

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

Quioxti stares at where Gregor tossed the last box, "Hmmm, I had a brother who used to play the piccolo. Who'd have thought such a talent would ever be useful in picking a lock." Turning back to the scene before him, swordsman walks over to one of the open containers and withdraws the scroll of protection from evil. "I suppose this can be our fee for opening the extra chest," he remarks, stuffing it into his backpack, "It might come in handy, saving the city from the undead and all that." Kicking the music box as he passes it, he follows Silana back to the broker.

Gregor: you are right. I should have told you this before. Because of that, even when your dwarf has made all that has been written in that post, I'll give you one extra use of the rage for today. Like a compensation.

You go to the main room and encounter Master Torch, now dressed, sitting in his great wooden chair.

Torch: So? What do we have here? -he sees the content of the 4 chests (all the content you don't keep)- Interesting. Is that all it's content?

The ones who wants to lie him, please make bluff checks.

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

"Everything except for that one last box," Quioxti explains, "Unfortunately, my companions and I aren't as musically talented as is required to open it." His face contorts into an expression of concern as he looks at one of the broker's goons, "You'd don't happen to play the harp, do you?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

"Anyways, these are the trinkets we were able to recover. A fair bit more than you had asked of us I do believe. Now how about that information?"

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

After catching his breath Gregor grows quite and guiltly avoids making eye contact with Silana or Torillan. On their way back to talk Gregor mumbles an apologie to the two adding Good job with that riddle Silana, would have taken me months to figure that out.

As the Quioxti explanes things to Torch. Gregor acwardly chimes in,
Uh, yeah like what he said this is it.
Aid Another Bluff:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Torch: Alright. You better get a hurry to Nessian's place. You have work to do, isn't it?

Yargos: You are right, indeed, My Lord. -Yargos look at you- Come on, warriors. We need to hurry!

Map
Guys, you have to choose the approaching plan. We are almost at the end!
Remember: you are here to stop Nessian's plan to release the Silent Tide, the undead armada that will destroy Absalom. You will prevent that by rescuing the codebook of that armada.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

As the "warriors" approach the Pirate's hideout, Gregor stops to survey the terrain. Cursing under his breath the dwarf turns to his companions.
Ruttin' hole has enough doors don't it. What do we think boys...and lass? Gregor embarrassingly smiles at Silana. I say we clear out those three wings before hitting the main tower. We might alert whoever's in the tower but I rather have that then haven someone or something sneak up on us from behind.
After hearing what the rest of the party thinks he adds,
Mind if I scout ahead a bit? Make sure we're not walking into anything too dangerous.
What direction are we approaching from?

Liberty's Edge

Female Half Elf Ranger 1

"I have to agree with Butters here, clearing each room will help us minimize any patrols or other combatants that can come to the aid of any others we will be fighting."

Silana looks around for tracks, and tries to determine a rough estimate of numbers going by boot size and proportion.

Track = 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

After several minutes of surveying their objective, Quioxti frowned. A moment later he shrugs and grins, "Seems like they'll see us coming from whichever direction we approach. We might as well take them head on. If you guys want to clean out the lower structure first, then lets get to it." The swordsman turn his head to look at Butters, "I think our dear Silana is itching to have some of her fun." As he draws his dueling sword, Quioxti shoots the warrior woman a wink.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Bah! Speak for yourself Quioxti. I bet you the first round of drinks that, if there are any guards posted outside, I can put a bolt in one of them before they can even draw a blade!
Gregor puffs out his chest as he issues his challenge to Quioxti.

I say we move in from the south, I'll keep to the right and position myself behind that those rocks, while the rest of you move in behind the outcropping to the left. Just give me a 10 sec head start to get the drop on them.

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

"You're on, my friend," Quioxti grinned. Without looking to see who was following him, he moved off towards the position the dwarf has just indicated. Although it was likely they would be spotted well before they reached the tower, Quioxti did his best to stay low and tread lightly.

You approach for the south and then, you can see a guard in the left tower and a guard in the right tower. They haven't noticed you yet. Maybe there is a chance of "disabling" them before they see you.

Sorry, real life is overwhelming me.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Gregor move forward towards the right tower, doing his best to stay low and quiet, moving with in 30ft of the guard.
Stealth:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Once in position he raises his crossbow and fires a bolt.
Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage:1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (2) = 7

Gregor shoots a precise bolt to the guard in the right tower and kills him silently. The guard in the left tower seems to haven't noticed the maneuver.

What about the rest?

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

From behind the cover of the rocks, Quioxti's fingers twitch in preparation of casting a spell. Seeing the remaining guard fail to notice to Butters covert assualt, however, he remains patient long enough to allow the dwarf a second shot.

Holding my action until Butters has an opertunity to take out the second guard. If he doesn't kill him outright, I'll jump in with an acid orb.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

After ducking behind the rocky outcropping to reload his crossbow. Gregor, slowly, begins to creep closer to the second guard.

Stealth:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Once within 30ft, after giving his companions a quick wink he once again aims and fires.

Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage:1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + (6) = 16

Perception for left warhounder: 1d20 ⇒ 20
The shot strikes the wall and make a sound that alert the guard, who sees his attacker.

-Alert! Intruders!

Initiatives:
Gregor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Quioxti: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Silana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Torillan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Bad guys: 1d20 ⇒ 8
So, the order is:
Silana
Torillan
Bad guys
Gregor and Quioxti
You know the process: post your actions as soon as you can and I'll read it in initiative order.

Dark Archive

Male Human Magus 3

"Diac phassl!" Quioxti steps from behind his rock, an orb of green energy already materializing in his hand. With a side-armed toss, he hurls it at the guard. "I suppose taking them both by surprise would have been too easy for you?" he teases the dwarf as he moves towards the front door of the tower.

Touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 (acid)

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Barbarian 9/Rogue 4

Gregor curses under his breath as the shot falls short of the target. Dropping his crossbow he draws his hammer and charges any enemy’s within range.
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21+2 is charging
Damage:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
If no enemy's present themselves this round Gregor will move into flanking position of the door on the main tower, readying his attack if he can.

Silana sees the danger and react quickly. She shots an arrow to the only guard that can be seen right now, the one who raised the alarm.
Shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

The shot hit the warhounder in the shoulder, injuring him badly. While he was trying to remove the arrow from his body, Quioxti kill off the bandit with an acid splah.

Gregor and Torillan runs to the central door and, listening that there is people inside, they prepare his actions.

Then, the door opens and more warhounders begin to exit the tower, but Gregor and Torillan was there. Gregor encrust his hammer in the chest of one of them, who falls inconcious inmediatly.
Elven blade: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

The elf knock down another with a mighty blow.

The two remaining seems to be a warhound and the boss, maybe Nessian. You notice that Nessian is dificult to see. Is... blur?

Ok, Guys! Post Actions for Round 2!
