Gremlin, Mogwai

Here is a little something I am doing for my Kingmaker campaign. I decided that I want to get rid of a certain encounter and replace it with gremlins from the Bestiary 2. I figured something to lead into it is to make this critter from Gremlins! So here it is, a much more sinister version of Gizmo, the mogwai from Gremlins.

Gremlin, Mogwai

This creature's adorable eyes and friendly smile belies a sinister and manipulative fey.

Special Abilities:
- Impossibly Adorable: The mogwai's childlike voice and demeanor make resisting its charm difficult, giving it a +2 racial bonus to the DC of Charm Person.
- Budding: Whenever a mogwai is exposed to any amount of water, he spawns 1d6 identical mogwai in 5 minutes. This ability can only be used once in a 24 hour period.
- Post-midnight Engorgement: If a mogwai eats a meal between the hours of midnight and sunrise, it creates a cocoon. The cocoon will hatch at sunrise to reveal a newly created jinkin (Pathfinder Besitary 2 pg 142).
- Mogwai Vulnerability: A mogwai cannot stand light, much like a vampire. When exposed to direct sunlight or the daylight spell, the mogwai is staggered for the first round and destroyed completely upon the second consecutive round if it does not escape. When exposed to bright light from a flame or other light source that isn't the sun, the mogwai takes magic damage equal to one third its maximum hit points. When brought to 0 hit points in this manner, the mogwai is destroyed.

Mogwai are tiny fey that live out in the wild and in human cities. They prefer forests, caves, and any place where they can hide from the sunlight. Despite their animal looks and cuteness, mogwai are very smart and many are very cruel and sinister. A mogwai will use its looks and act like a child or a pet from a humanoid race to get a person to feed them and love them. While with their "master", they will sneak out water and food when they can and hide their spawn for days until there is enough to cause havoc. Once they have a sizable mob, the mogwai will all eat food past midnight and transform into their terrible cousins, the jinkin, and cause mayhem to their owner.

So what do you all think?

This works following the Gremlins storyline, but of course it also runs into the big suspension-of-disbelief problem of those movies, that being that if gremlins reproduce on contact with water, all you need to do to end the world is flush one down a toilet. The endlessly replicating gremlins will then cover the planet.

Fortunately, I came up with a logical metaphysical way around this: Mogwai only spawn on contact with water in the First World or areas enchanted by it. In the mundane world, water instead acts upon them as acid, dissolving them like saltwater does the aliens in Alien Nation or any water did the Wicked Witch of the West.

I did this in a recent game where the gremlin fell into the bay and it just screamed and dissolved like it was made out of Alka-seltzer. This also explains why there are always new gremlins coming from the First World where the metaphysics are different.

Hmm. I think I might make it a once per day thing instead of it only being First World water, since I do want the mogwai in my game to be a little bastard and spawn a mob of gremlins to assault the PCs at their home base :D

Also... why was this moved to Conversion? This seemed more like a Homebrew type thing, no?
