PDF Downloads

Customer Service

Hi,

I've some questions about how PDF downloads work that I couldn't find on the forums or FAQ:

1. If I purchase a PDF download I will always be able to download it an infinite number of times. However, if I say, purchase the 3rd Printing of the Core Rulebook and a 4th Printing + PDF is later issued, will I be able to download the 4th Printing PDF at no additional charge? I.e. Does my PDF purchase of any given book entitle me to PDFs of all future revised editions so I can always have the most up-to-date version?

2. Does the above, if true, only apply to Paizo products?

3. Is the APG PDF also a hyperlinked document? And will all core Paizo PDFs be hyperlinked documents?

Thanks.

1. Yes. You will get an email with information about any new errata/updates to the PDF.

2. It applies to all Paizo products and some 3PP stuff, but that really depends on the publisher.

3. No, only the Core Rulebook is hyperlinked IIRC.

Bestiary I was also hyperlinked

Also noticed that Bestiary I was the only one that was hyperlinked. Any plans to go back are link Beastiary II or was there a reason that they did not do it ?

I think Vic said that it blows up the files in size, slows readers down and wreaks havoc with errata. In other words - too much trouble.

Well that is a bummer, can understand thier reason, but still is a bummer. I liked being able to go straight to a monster or one of the tables.

1) Yes, as long as you have access to your paizo.com account you'll be able to download new versions. We generally send out an email when a PDF you have purchased is updated.

2) Yes, all purchased PDFs remain available for download in perpetuity unless we are explicitly told to bring them down by the manufacturer.

3) No. Only the Corebook and Bestiary 1 PDFs are hyperlinked.

Hope this helps!

Nope—the reason is that inter-document hyperlinks don't work very well. To take an example, in the Advanced Player's Guide, we could link "Cavalier," but we couldn't reliably link "Cleric," and linking some things but not others would cause more confusion—and thus more customer service issues—than we would like.

We do *bookmark* our PDFs, so it's still very easy to go right where you want to go.

Thanks for the responses all, very helpful.

As a suggestion: it might be good to add these points to the FAQ as they are, in my opinion, positive customer benefits.

Cheers!
