I am just now starting to run PFS for my group and I want to make sure I am doing things correctly. I have a druid in my group of players who wants to upgrade her armor. We have played through two scenarios so she is still first level. Is she able to purchase a dragonhide breastplate? Is this her best option? If not, what is? And how much does it cost. I was looking at the dragonhide and wasn't sure that I was calculating the cost right. Would it be 700 gp?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, correct, 700 gp. However, the druid needs to make sure they have the appropriate PA to buy at the 700gp level.
Of course, the pro play is to use 2 PA to get any armor under 750gp for "free".
The costs as listed in the core rulebook as what they should pay...usually twice masterwork.

So First off Dragonhide is not always Available, you need the PA to be able to purchase something made of Dragonhide.
Dragonhide breastplate would cost 700 gp but would require you have 9 PA, which mean it is well out of the reach of a first level character since the earliest someone would get 9PA if all went well is level 2 after at the least 5 scenarios, assuming the character got 2 PA per scenario.

Good point, I forgot about that. With this option a 1st level character could get Dragonhide breastplate after playing 1 scenario if they got 2 PA.
Edit: I have never actually spent any PA on any of my characters, so I always forget about that ;).

Thanks for your help. I'm glad to know that I calculated the cost correctly and I originally missed the spot where it says that dragonhide is not always available. I had to go back and re-read the section about purchasing stuff to find it. I will let my player know that she can spend her PA on it if she wants.
Thanks for helping me keep my players legal!

There also some other options when it comes to druids and armor. Druid I play wears Studded Leather. The only difference between the standard metal studded armor and mine, is that my studs are bones studs. Thus the metal restriction is overcome.
This is of course at GM discretion, but it makes since. Druids are some of the improvising chars in the game. With a couple of craft skills and a profession, they can provide the party with all sorts of items when in the wilds and not in town. You can even make some gold off your fellow party memebers;)
-I do apologise for potential thread jack, I just wanted to point out other options in case your player lacks the PA

I definitely appriciate a discussion of other options. She is currently wearing leather armor, so studded leather would still be an upgrade for her character. Is a change like that, i.e. metal studs to bone studs, legal in PFS?
Also, the druid does have 2 PA for the dragonhide breastplate, but she was planning on using in for a wand of cure light wounds so I'm not sure if she will want to change it.

It would appear that Soulless is not a PFS player (based on profile information) though I could be mistaken.
No, that kind of change 'subject to GM discretion' is not legal. Nor is using Craft or Profession skills to 'make some gold off the fellow' players.
Dragonhide Breastplate is probability your best bet. Also I want to make sure but if you have 4 PA total you could buy 1 at the start of the next session and the other at the start of the session after that :) Depending on the character/alignment I'd offer the other players at the table the chance to spend their own 2 PA for a Wand of CLW and offer to use it on them :)

"Dark Markets, A Guide to Katapesh" has some cool organic armor, but unfortunately I don't think they are legal for organized play.
Yeah, the only things legal from Dark Markets are a couple of feats and a prestige class.

But for a home campaign they are actually very interesting.
