As mentioned elsewhere, this will be my first PaizoCon. I'm mostly coming to play, but in the interest of doing my part I'd like to judge a slot or two. I GM'ed for Josh at GenCon '09 and WotC at GenCon '08, so I do have some con judging experience.
When does the call for judges go out, and where do I sign up? May I judge just a slot or two? Can anyone tell me how this has worked at past PaizoCons?

You'll sign up here, usually in the forums. J. Frost usually starts a thread for a call for GM's about a month or few weeks before the con begins. You just say what day or time you can judge and he'll sign you up as a judge for a slot. You get some goodies which is nice, whether that's actual products and/or a discount at the store (at the con).

I thought that Frosty wasn't going to be doing it this year. I do hope that I am wrong, pretty certain that I am not.
I assume you are talking about PFS scenario DM's. Volunteers to run other scenarios outside of the PFS did not get any goodies that I recall, beyond the basic discount for being a Pathfinder Adventure Path subscriber.

In the past you could volunteer for as many or few as you liked (I've done two both years). Last year was $10/slot in store credit, plus the GM grab bag. I think there was a 2-slot minimum for the bag.
Personally, two has really worked for me. I get to run the same module twice, so easy prep, without it getting too boring. Then I get to play about twice, with time for banquet and a few seminars, or catching a showing of "Burnt Offerings".
Running games at Paizocon has honestly been some of the most thrilling times for me - *high* quality players, even if they're newbies they're going to be enthusiasts. Once you run a game for "The Most Powerful Mage in All Absalom", it'll never be the same :)
Erm.. /end soap-box

I am in the process of writing (and playtesting with my local gaming group) an orginal Forgotten Realms Pathfinder adventure which I plan to DM/GM at PaizoCon. From what you said, can I assume that since a.) my adventure is not par of PFS and b.)I am not an Adventure Path subscriber there is no reward for my efforts beyond the enjoyment I experience at the table?
Don't get me wrong, the only reason I am putting in all this effort is for that time slot I to run my adventure. Just want to set my expectations.

Running your own game is fun! Plus you get to meet some new people. Though if I had my choice of times to run an event again, I won't choose Sunday morning as only half the persons signed up for it actually showed up to play last time. I am guessing that some stayed up wayyy too late the night before. The persons who did show were nice folks, fun to game with. And hopefully I will see them again this time around.

Last year, Lone Wolf gave out free licenses to Hero Lab for those of us running non-PFS games. (Worked for them, two other people in my gaming group bought it after seeing mine :)
I ran two last year (Call of Cthulhu and Metamorphosis Alpha), and will be running a couple of other less-common game systems again this year (because it's fun! :) Haven't heard of any other goodies for us non-PFS DMs yet, though.

How many players should I expect at my table? 5? 6? I need to know how many pregens I should create.
Are you GMing for PFS? If for PFS, Paizo will provide the Pregens, if for non PFS then you set the table limit.

Yep, I think Saturday night is kinda the "party night" of Paizocon, as when I dragged my butt out of bed Sunday morning, after being up until 5 am, I sat at my table for an hour and waited for players that never showed up. More people would probably show up for Sunday games if they were started an hour or two later...

My best advice is to come prepared to redesign your adventure on the fly for fewer players just in case some of those signed up don't show. I was in someone else's game and we ended up starting way late because the GM for some reason could not run his game without a full complement of players and had to seek volunteers. In my opinion, it is easy to ramp down in difficulty, less easy to ramp up on the fly.

Mark Moreland wrote:Keep an eye on the blog in the coming weeks. We'll put out the call for volunteers on there, as well as on the PFS boards.Any word on when this will happen? I am very much looking forward to GMing and wish I could just post my events somewhere officially.
I think they Mentioned the blog should be going up this week.

After you submit your interest in running a game and the time slots you can be available, it goes into the scheduling system.
Getting into a game is a kind of lottery - you sign up for various games with your preferences, and then something happens behind a curtain and a schedule gets pumped out. Its likely you will not get everything you want - some games only get run once, and they only allow a very small number of players (you can set the size you want as a GM).
I ran Don't Rest Your Head last year, and played in Pat's Metamorphosis Alpha game as well (strangely he also got into my DRYH game!). Pat's MA game was a lot of fun, very fast to get started with a new character, and dangerous.
Ill probably run DRYH again, same adventure based on a direct sequel to one of HP Lovecraft's most famous stories.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, somewhere else, but for those of us running a PFS game, when do we get a copy of the module. I ran a couple last year, but I had already purchased the modules I ran. Now I'm running something that comes out after PaizoCon and would really like to read it and process it.
Again, I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere else, I just couldn't find it.
Thanks
