clearly, he would crash through the wall in a mini bobcat.

Catapulting myself off the mini bobcat through the wall didn't work, so adjustments were made.

All sorts of adjustments.

Hello, everyone.

I dont think I would bat an eye at you bursting in to a room through a wall on a mini bobcat while naked. I would just assume it was hot.

Frankly, I hate salting sidewalks and can do without the five hour seminar. Unfortunately, it's a requirement for the job.

Let me know when the seminar for assaulting Danes is, will you?

It would have to be bright blue, with gold dragons on it and the blade will have been folded 1000000000000000 times in a Mystical Ritual that allowed it to cut through a block of American Cheese at a single stroke

Wrong kind of cheese. American Cheese is designed to be just like Americans: Soft and tasteless.

You've clearly never been to Wisconsin.

Only national brands are soft and tasteless.

I should totally make you ship me some. I thought that by definition, "American" cheese was a mild cheddar that had been further diluted to make it even softer and milder. Useful only to top burgers.

I am missing the connection...

And, entertainingly enough, I'm watching demos of other products in Global Megacorporation's massive product suite, and we actually have an online restaurant ordering app...
...which looks suspiciously like the one I used last night!

I'd make a nasty comment about Global Megacorporation, but the software performed perfectly: The receipt exactly matched our order, and the food was delivered quickly and without incident. It was the people packing the food that made the error.

No ding on Global Megacorporation this time. We all had no trouble ordering at all.

Oh, FFS. Apparently we're Karen-enablers.

This is our demo for public sector. I kid you not:
Sam: "I care about the safety and quality of life in my neighborhood."

"Sam sees that her neighbor Brian's yard is overgrown. She considers it unsightly and a fire hazard, and she wants to report it to the authorities anonymously to force him to clean it up. Our software helps her do that."

NOOOOOOOOOO....

EDIT: The pictures make it worse, because "Brian's" yard is cleaner than many of my neighbors'.

EDIT 2: For all my complaints about people in my neighborhood, what they do on their property is their business. It's when they come onto/dump stuff onto my property that I get cantankerous. A fine example? Today was garbage day. After the garbage was gone, someone put a full trash bag into my trash can. I don't mind that they're generating trash, but I'm pretty peeved that they're using my trash can.

If "Brian's" yard had been a large expanse facing a wilderness so that it was a realistic fire hazard I would have been OK with the demo. But it was a 40' x 10' yard where a few stray bushes were all of 18" tall.

Speaking of lawns.

What is up with suburbia having these huge lawns up front that is basically just grass?
Is it just an example of having money? Since having space that has no function but does require maintenance usually is?

A decent history.

I was under the same impression: U.S. aristocrats duplicated European gardens, U.S. commoners duplicated U.S. aristocrats, and it became such a "norm" that no one dared deviate for two centuries.

In northern California with its massive droughts, we're down to only a handful of lawns on our entire block. On the other hand, our front yards in this neighborhood are typically 8 meters by 3 meters, so "vast expanses" they're not.

Denny's is good, but there's none near me.

And also this.

It is rather bland, spice wise, though it makes up for it with heartiness.

Obviously the terribleness of Denny’s is another “California thing”. LM, any input?

EDIT: Because the sad, grey substance that passes for “beef”, or the flavorless white gel they call “eggs”, wouldn’t be called “good” by anyone. And what I find, over and over and over again, is that national chains simply can’t compete in California if they keep their prices the same; taxes are too high and their prices are too low. And instead of raising prices like a reasonable place (the local taco truck is up to $12 for a burrito), they cut corners everywhere else, from buying the worst meat available to watering down the eggs until they can barely hold together.

In my mind, it’s a bad decision, but people still eat there and they stay in business, so I have to admit it works for them.

I suppose Denny's isn't too bad, if you're looking for a cheap hooker or some heroin or meth.

Denny's is admittedly low-middle tier at best for breakfast restaurants, in my experience. Generally semi-cheap and semi-quick, but not exceptional in any way - neither really good nor memorably bad - and not a good enough deal to bridge the gap between the actually good breakfast restaurants like Cracker Barrel and fast food.

i also like cracker barrel.

I hate Cracker Barrel.

Overhyped crap in my experience.

Waffle Haus is the place to go here.

Funny enough, I've not been particularly impressed with the Waffle Houses I've been to. They always seem like less-good IHOPs. Which is already a low bar.

Silver Crusade

I don’t like Denny’s breakfast food, but I have fond memories of 2:00 am cheese fries during college (surprisingly sober more often than not). I’m sure if I are those today they would ruin my fond memories.

Waffle House chose wisely and hasn’t come to California. The ones I ate at in eastern Colorado back in the 1990s were amazing, but that’s an eternity in food chains...

I've never NOT seen bugs in a waffle house. It is the nastiest chain I've been in.

I said Waffle Haus.

It's raining. Blegh

About to go home. Good night, everyone.

Waffle house is comfort food for me. My gandpa used to take me their as a kid. So waffle house has those warm memmoris tied to it. I think a Good IHOP has better food but waffle house is more consistent you always get the same level of food at a waffle house but IHOPs seem all over the place as far as quality goes.
I've never seen bugs in our waffle house...
Dennys is the place that people at cracker barrel make fun of.
My friends like cracker barrel but I am not a fan. I've never left a cracker barrel feeling good. I always feel awful after eating there.

I don't like most breakfast foods, so going to a breakfast restaurant is not something I do. Except when I have to, or if my folks want to meet in the morning when I get off work. If I do a breakfast out, I usually go either McDonald's (sausage biscuit and hashbrown) or Cracker Barrel (the French toast is pretty good). Cracker Barrel for dinner can be pretty good. I would usually get either chicken and dumplings (which, while not great, are decent when you add some pepper) or a hamburger (which is a hamburger, pretty easy to make a decent burger).

It's true. Sometimes the food you make for yourself is so terrible that you're better off having no food.

I got pulled over today for speeding. I told the cop "You can't give me a ticket, I'm running a marathon tomorrow!" The cop looked at me and said "That's not how you play the race card."
