The weather is truely turning to autumn now so now I get to stress: Is it COVID or just my regular cold returning, made just to feel worse because I stress that it might be COVID?
Yeah; I'm having out-of-season hay fever symptoms (slightly elevated temperature, headache, sore throat, itchy eyes, etc.), but from what I've read about COVID symptoms, unless your fever breaks 100.4°F (38°C), you personally don't have a lot to worry about. And if you're practicing non-transmission (social distancing, mask-wearing, hand-washing) you're not likely to pass it on to someone else.
At the moment, WebMD (hardly the best source of information, but at least something) lists the symptoms you should get checked as:
- Problems breathing
- Constant pain or pressure in your chest
- Bluish lips or face
- Sudden confusion
and I don't have any of those; I'm always confused...
EDIT: Speaking of confused, where did my pants go?

We're playing Secret World: Legends, which, as one of Shiro's friends put it, "Took an incredibly-cool game with a rich atmosphere and an intricate plot and turned it into a button masher."
But they still have that deep, rich lore. So we find "legends" all over the place, and, being in a multiplayer instance, we never get to read them.
So I thought I'd sign in a bit early this evening and catch up on my reading. The first legend was 1 1/2 pages of text. As was the second...
...and I started thinking, "Wait a minute! I've picked up dozens of these things!"Yes. I have picked up 95 legends, to be precise, or just over 140 pages of "light" reading... while playing the game.
OK. I'll admit. I'm impressed. Someone went to a HUGE amount of work to write all that stuff...

Let's see...
I always am a bit short of breath, with a near-persistent cough and bronchitis. Granted a lot of that is because of my weight, admittedly.
Muscle pain in my chest is also extremely common, and I'm not really sure why. My anxiety loves to use it to scream I'm having constant heart attacks though, which is why it's oh so fun that I'm out of my medication now.
I have a wretched short-term memory so I find myself confused about little things all the time.
My biggest worry is that I'm going to catch COVID and not notice until it's too late, and that it's going to compound all my pre-existing issues lethally.

I should probably go back to doing the main quest line at some point. I'm not too far in, but have been distracted by other things. Like the whole island of Solsteim. And becoming head of the Thieves' Guild. And joining the Mage College. And joining the Dark Brotherhood. And just doing all sorts of random favors for people.
To the game designers’ credit, Skyrim is one of the few games where stretching out the main quest seems consistent with what the game world expects of you. Nobody ever rushes you, and all of the other side questing is held up as just as important as the main quests.
I mean, theoretically if you take too long Alduin will eventually eat the world, but that is always presented as some distant idea, not something that will occur next week or next month.
I always make defeating Alduin the last thing I do in play-through, so I go out on a high note.

(1) The universe truly hates Shiro's new patio.
After seeing pictures of our deck, hearing how wonderful it was, and learning that we were having friends over to socialize in a properly-distanced, outdoor setting, Shiro decided to have his back yard overhauled and put in a stone patio and pergola.
- The day he wanted us to help him build the new pergola it was 105˚F with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of over 150 (unhealthy). Needless to say, we didn't help him, so he paid some guys to do it over the last week.
- Now that it's all finished, he wants us to come out and do the Sunday game on his patio. So of course it's supposed to be 97˚F with an AQI in the 60s. Not as bad, but not exactly, "I want to hang out outdoors all afternoon" weather.
We'll give it a try, but I suspect we're going to have to call it on account of heat stroke.
(2) The level of personal intrusion perpetrated by the popular platforms really is staggering.
- As you know, I don't give out my mobile phone number to companies, because I don't use my mobile phone.
- However, I *do* own an iPhone and a Mac Mini. I don't use iCloud or any of the other sharing services, but I *do* occasionally provide my Apple ID to both devices so they can run updates or download apps or whatnot.
- Yesterday I accidentally started the "Messages" program on my Mac Mini. Not knowing what it was, I quickly closed it.
- Doesn't matter. Every text conversation that I initiate on my phone is suddenly being piped to my Mac Mini.
Gee... intrusive, much?
It's enough that I might bite the bullet and actually buy a "real" phone. Impus Major got a Motorola whose battery lasts an entire week, and I figure if my phone's on one platform (Google) and my computer's on another (iOS), they might at least hesitate slightly before sharing information between the two of them...

So yep, his mouth was fully exposed. His nostrils were open-air.
At which point you have to ask, "What's the point?"
He didn't look like he was trying to stir up trouble; he was just walking with his wife and son to the Farmer's Market.
In the mask equivalent of a g-string.

It wasn't until today that I finally realized just how boiling with anger I've been feeling for the past few days... I'm not going to get into it, because flaming bikes, but stomach acid, headaches, tension aches in my back and shoulders and neck, just... not good.
So I made a quart and a half of bbq sauce and started a pork butt cooking and made some coleslaw and started dough for homemade buns, because if I don't keep my hands busy, I feel worse.
Now I'm going to GM for a couple of hours and encourage my players to blow a bunch of s*** up.

So earlier this week, I had some chest pains, but no other symptoms.
Today I feel some breathlessness, but that might also be the start of a cold (I tend to get one the moment the weather turns, or a delayed reactoin to deep cleaning the bathroom, which, despite ample ventilation did involve bleach)I've had a slight elevation of temperature, but only 0,5 degrees thereabouts.
I've had no loss of sense of smell or any other symptoms.
(confusion doesnt count because I get confused easily all the time. i'm like a damn pokemon).
I'm definitely not bad enough to not do any work. When in doubt I would say Im working from home. But I just had 2 weeks of holliday they switched phone software (a necessity, the one we were using had hickups too often).
COVID is on the rise here, so its impossible to get a test anytime soon. And most likely this IS just my normal 'start of autumn cold' worsened by stress.

Interloper here...
Speaking as someone who spends a lot of time reading over different countries' COVID-19 public health advice (for a living, not for fun, although I enjoy my work, though I don't enjoy that we have to address a global public health emergency, but I'm lucky all I have to do is read about it while health professionals have to work in the environment, and... anyway)...
Advice that hopefully no one needs to hear:
If you have any sort of cold symptom: STAY HOME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 10 DAYS; if you are concerned call a doctor and get cleared to get a COVID-19 test. Symptoms of this disease vary WILDLY--some get a massive fever and can hardly breathe and may need hospitalization; others have typical mild cold/flu symptoms, if any at all.
The important thing about STAY HOME is twofold:
1. If you DO have COVID, you want to avoid at all possible spreading it
2. If you DON'T have COVID, but suspect you are infected with another virus/other illness, you are immunodepressed and are at higher risk of getting COVID. There is no rule that if you have one respiratory infection, that you can't get another. In fact, you very much can; that's why public health folks have been really screaming for everyone to get a flu shot, because you can get COVID-19 and flu simultaneously which doubles your chances of serious illness and/or death.
I say all of this acknowledging that I, like many, get Annual Fall Sinus Crud, which seems to be a reaction to both allergies and changes in barometric pressure. Earlier this week I had a nasty headache and post nasal drip and was convinced I was dying; then I started chopping lots of onions and garlic for dinner and my headache was cured and realized yes indeed it was just Annual Fall Sinus Crud. (DISCLAIMER: Onions and garlic are not a cure for any microbial infection; they are only capable of making anxious dorks with chronic sinusitis feel better sometimes). I've still been trying to be careful about how much I go out; if I'm out at all I keep distanced and preferably outdoors, or if I have to go indoors, masked to the nines and hands constantly sanitized/washed. If your systems go unresolved, even if mild, please be especially careful and take care of yourself and others.
If you are experiencing any shortness of breath at all, especially if it is atypical, you may wish to purchase a pulse oximeter for precaution and peace of mind. These have spiked in price because of COVID; try not to spend more than $20-30 on one. This easy to use device tells you your oxygen levels. If the pulse ox is 92 or less (do not confuse the number with your heart rate, which should be around 60-90), go to the emergency department. As long as it is higher than that you should not go anywhere. (This is advice my doctor gave me this spring when I was having what turned out to be an unusual asthma episode, but while I tested negative for COVID he told me to follow these steps just in case anyway.)
This unsolicited public service announcement was brought to you by the letters D and Q and the number 42. DQ has a master's degree in English and all medical or health advice offered by her should be takien with appropriately sized servings of salt, and does not supercede advice offered by your doctor or other trusted health provider.

We're watching star trek so I'm very wary of Q...
The DQ Continuum is a separate one from that jerk's, don't worry.
If it makes you feel better, kids in high school used to call me "Jean-Luc" because my last name almost sounds like Picard. Which basically more or less means I AM Jean-Luc Picard, except female, fat, and in my 40s, with a luxurious head of hair.

A bunch of mongol a#@&&+$s had this poor kid pinned down on this bridge, so I did the only thing I knew to do, dying several times as I slowly whittle them down one by one.
But then after that I got some kick ass samurai armor and was immediately able to upgrade it due to an already established hording issue.
I also found another fox to bow to and pet.
And this really cool lighthouse, holy f###ing s*!+, this game is a sight to behold.

If you die, you can't show up to work either. You will also burden your family with the debts created by your death.
It sucks beyond words that is the decision many feel they have to make.
Look, I used to work an hourly job with no health insurance, and it f~@~ing sucks. I am not ignorant to how awful the American health system is and do not need to be lectured about it, especially as I still remember what it took to pay for an emergency room visit while I was working retail (more or less, most of my soul). At the same time I have no idea who is or isn't American here, as not everyone is, or in general what folks' life circumstances are. I, perhaps mistakenly, presume everyone here is grown up and mature enough to apply whatever advice is given by anyone within the limits and constraints of their lives, knowing that blanket advice cannot apply to everyone equally. I trust everyone makes the best choice they can depending upon their circumstances.
And as I said, all of my advice should be taken with a grain of salt. I will note the advice is offered not to make anyone feel bad about their financial situation, but with the hope it might save a life or two where possible. If anyone has a problem with that or needs to play the pedant and talk down to me like I don't know what adult life is, they can kindly f$@& off.
Also, BTW, the COVID materials I have to read cover what developing countries are doing to handle the pandemic. Countries where people aren't just afraid of getting cold and flu at the same time as COVID, but malaria and dengue, and they live in such distant places health services or even phone or internet access are often not an option. This is not to say anyone should "feel lucky" about being in even slightly better circumstances, but to note--I have it in my face every day the access problems people have all over the world to getting the help they need when they need it. The world is a terrible, awful, evil place that has gotten even more terrible, awful, and evil, and I'm sorry I tried to say something that might help somebody, because what's the f&%+ing point, right?
Bye all.

tabletop or video game kingmaker?
well since it's captain I'll assume video game. So by hung up I guess he means it crashed because mine sure crashed a whole bunch. I had to give up on it. It crashed way to often. I figure I would try again When I get a new computer. Messing with the settings did help a little.

yeah skyrim was a real well done game. Their is a reason it is so popular. The one thing that I dislike is illusion magic in that game. it's super un reliable even when maxed out. That is super niche I know which really says how good the game is. (ofcourse their is a lot of glichs and that sort of thing but they almost increased the enjoyment of the game then subtracted from it.)

All magic in Skyrim is generally both less effective and less efficient than decent armor and a 2-handed sword. Or a bow. Or stealthy stabbing.

Yeah, I've used almost no magic this playthrough. Did stealthy bowmanship until I maxed out both of those skills, and switched to a sword and shield. Still all light armor, but it works for me. Especially when combined with the Marked for Death shout. That thing is a beast. I do have a staff of Summon Flame Atronach that I use occasionally.

Yeah destruction is pretty legit. Max lighting kmahehamaha kill all the things! my second character my whole goal was to do the archmage stuff first. Which I did. of all the magic Conjuration and destruction definitely was the most help. tried my best not to touch any non-magic stuff. Was fun made some fights tricky but worked out ok.

Was a dramatic exit necessary because I expressed some cynicism?
I mean, I even opened with "great advice" (without sarcasm, I might add).
This seems eerily familiar...
Yeah I felt that was one of your tamer responses. maybe they were in a bad mood?? It didn't even seem like your comment was a complaint against them so much as the system itself.

I want to play starfinder so bad. Maybe after this current game I'm running I will try and run it. I'll need to pick up a module or something I don't have a lot of experience running sci-fi.
Just rip off Alien. Pretty much every time I've tried playing a sci-fi RPG, one of the first things we do is a Bug Hunt.
