Kidlet down! Woo! It was very good to see him last night, and he was happy to see me too. ^_^ Always a nice boost. He's abuzz with energy, playing with his mini-football, enjoying the feel of wind, walking around whenever he can, and climbing stairs. He's good about stairs, he makes sure to drag an adult with him before he goes to them. Mostly because he insists on walking up them like an adult does and needs someone to drag himself up on. :P

Also, Friday morning means post Thursday night!
After being briefly stalled by some rather powerful supernatural beings, we were cleared to go meet their boss, Tesla. Initially expecting us to be assassins, he queried who we were and how we came to be at his scrapyard. While he seemed to take a liking to our group of unlikely heroes, he was less than pleased with how we came to know his location. Apparently, last time he met old Nicholas, Tesla told Nicholas he'd destroy him if he ever crossed his path again. Still, apparently Nicholas had great respect for Tesla, taking his name as inspiration for his own. Anyways, Tesla agreed to help us. The artifact to allow us to take our war to the invaders was currently possessed by the invaders, and he needed to summon it from them. Once the process of recalling the artifact had begun, he revealed it would be his undoing, as even a Mage's power eventually wanes with time, and he was very old. He gave us the time it would take the artifact to arrive to ask him what we would.
He counseled our own Mage on how to be successful as a Mage. The key was to use your secret to learn more secrets. Otherwise, your own secret may be discovered naturally by someone else, and you'd quickly find yourself powerless. He revealed he started the group that hunted out Mages to reveal their secrets, originally to (I wasn't quite sure what he said, either to eliminate rivals or get more secrets for himself). He was very, very old, at least centuries, possibly more. When asked about others who could help us, he expressed confidence in our ability to handle things. When asked about why it was the invaders were trying to gain access to our world, he found he had sealed some knowledge from himself. There was a great unmaking coming, and our world was the only world left. As he unlocked the knowledge and began talking about it, he quickly "forgot" what he was talking about, imparting only how hopeless the situation was, and how glad he was that he wouldn't be alive to see it. Time quickly passed, and Tesla stepped back as the pressure began to build, and a smell of ozone filled the air. He raised his hand to the air and, briefly, he looked much younger, and his hair turned long and golden. Then, a flash of blinding light, and the ceiling crashed in.
A smoking crater was left in the centre of the room, with a smoking skeletal corpse, grasping the handle of a stone hammer. The supernaturals who had slowed us getting to Tesla were none too happy with what happened to their boss, so before they could get to us, I quickly grasped the hammer from Tesla's remains, and raised it to the sky, thinking of my practice. Another flash of lightning later, and a better understanding of why Tesla died summoning it, and we were back in Atlanta, a little worse for wear. We immediately set out to gather what few allies he had, intending to take the war to the invaders and ending the conflict once and for all. There were greater enemies now, the great unmaking that followed the invaders home-world, but we needed relief from our current predicament before we could deal with that. Heading for our best bet, the Werewolf's Mafia contacts, and a group of Hillbilly Shepherds my character knew, we quickly found the two had joined forces, and while pleased to see me, not so much that I was accompanied by supernatural beings. A wild fervor seemed to possess the mundane humans in the area, while the lead Shepherd said he needed to bring us up to date...
Needless to say, looking forward to next week. ^_^
On a related note, I may have mentioned my mini journals, and there may be more Irish before long. Must clean up posting history. >.<

Early diplomacy incident.
Elegy (duchess oracle) calms down the lizardfolk tribe after the party kills their "god" (a will o' wisp) and chieftan.
"DAMMIT JAEKAH (the general), I WANTED TO KILL THE CHIEF" ~Errol (magister)
There's a beat of pure silence.
Then the lizardfolk charge Elegy.
I still love the fight against Hargulka after the entire party reincarnated.
*walks into the fight*
*stares a moment*
*sees at least one of the guards dead*
*looks at the party*

She will be back home on Saturday (and hopefully awake enough to play some Pathfinder at the con on Sunday).
She had a great time, and she really enjoyed Germany. I can imagine her wanting to go back on her own.

One of these days I'm going to attach a camera to my bike helmet and ride around in manhattan traffic. I'll post the video and watch heads explode.

While not quite that far gone, mothers are given a pint of Guinness after giving birth. Full of iron, good for recovery. And underage drinking is very much the norm.

Pretty much, yeah. I mean, I understand it takes time to get information together, especially if you're having to fetch it from other companies and confirm identity and what not. But seriously, in this day and age, seventeen days?
Here I have seen property management companies charge $50+ per person for credit and background check "fees".
Worse still some of them still take apps and collect fees even after they have picked a renter. A%!@#~#s!

And with that, Good Morning FaWtL folk! Hope everyone is well and has a good one today. :) Another dull and dark day this side of the pond, still close, so not cold, and not yet wet, so can totally work with this. And Friday! The weekend is so close I can taste it! Tastes like chicken...
Morning! I hope your day is going extremely well, and I hope it's a great day full of fun and cheer! And I hope you have a good weekend!

The sad part is, there's actually a reasonable explanation for it.
It has to do with a collision of two different standards: College culture, where everyone must have a degree, and old-world values, where you're not a true adult until you're done with education. Since a lot of people are going to college, the age of "true adult" has been increasingly sliding upwards in years and 30 is actually about right. It's one of the negative impacts of the college culture.

Yeah, there's an application fee, has been at pretty much every apartment I've ever lived at.
Beyond that though, as I said, I haven't had any problems at all with the apartments I'm trying to move into. It's the credit company who holds the black mark on my record who's dragging their feet and making me frustrated about the whole situation.
One more week. One more week, and they should have the info I need. I can be patient that long. Beyond that, I make no promises.

I think it also has a lot to do with the infantilizing of our culture. I worked my first full time job at 14, bought my first car before my 16th birthday, and got my sergeant stripes before I was old enough to drink legally.
It's a very different world now.

BUT I FAILED!
Anyway, I think my wife has another actual picture of me, have to harass her to get it off the camera.

Just checking in folks. At the library for free wi-fi and sending in resumes to a couple of companies and finalizing the paperwork for the one that offered me the job. Really hoping for this second job though, it looks to be a potentially longer term job and well it pays better too. Send good thoughts please.
