GM W.R. Monger

Well there is Status for House purposes.
Status as Skill
Status for Position.

House Status (Influence)
First born (Male) 20
Second (Male of First Female) 10
Other Children 5

House Retainers, Hedge Knights, Freeman Status 2 (Limitless)
Sworn Sword/Vassal Knight, Guard, Squire Status 3 (Maximum 32)
(this are important people not common guys, like a Master-At-Arms would fall here)
Ranking Household, Maester, Junior Septon, Landed Knight, Noble Bastard Status 4 (Max 16)
Banner Lord, Ward, Courtier, Septon, Advisor Status 5 (Max 8)
Lord of the House, Heir, lady, offspring status 6 (Max 4)

Pag. 43...

It requires for you to buy them with influence.

Human Psychomancer

I thought Chris Mortika wanted to be a rogue of some sort?

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

Ranking Household is good for me, Chamberlain, Huntmaster, Arms trainer, Blacksmith?

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

Pg 43 also states that you buy your character's starting Status with Experience, not influence. What I see says that you buy heirs with influence, but not any of the rest of the positions.

That seems pretty difficult. But thats ok. I figured i dont really need status as im just the bodyguard. However status could still come in handy. Im thinking of taking famous as well.

i love the backstory you wrote and think both scandal and villian works. My character being passed down a generation means he has some gut for sins of the father and may try hard not to have those sins repeated. You know, his father having helped previous generations and all that.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

Well we can't do both, so casting a vote would be good. I'm leaning toward the scandal still.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Well then you can pay it with XP ^^ then I have no problems.

And well make your minds up, I do like the Scandal one also.

At least we got name for the House Rogryn
House Lord Lorrick Rogryn (Sounds nice)

I'll start fleshing him out ^^

I already have most if not all of the NPC's except for a couple of notables ones but other than that just waiting for house to be done and then your characters.

I like the scandal one as well. I'd like to ask if I can make middle-aged. I didn't think I'd like to since the maximum ranks drops down a bit, but I think it plays through the story a bit better.

I'm really liking the idea of helping the heir's father through his path as a commoner into nobility and being passed down to assist the son on his path to self discovery and eventual nobility. Of course, adult would still work.

Maybe I'm asking for opinion more than permission :p

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

well adult is a big number of ages so even tho the heir can be of age 16 you can still be age 28 (Adult) and guide him. since the House Lord would be a middle aged man or so for having very few children maybe.

Alright.

So do I have to buy my status, what status would I need for the role I'm requesting?

i like scandal too
and perhaps the two heirs can both be 16 (im the older twin?)
and i can be very defensive when it comes to my father previous status!

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Vistarius as a bodyguard you are just Status 2 and its with exp.

Raven34 it costs 30 influence for 2 sons (regardless if you are twins or not)

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

So, Scandal it is then? Excellent, fending off rumors of a commoner-lord!

I'm guessing that as an anointed knight I'll need at least Status 3. Remember everybody that Status is a skill that starts at 2, just like the rest of them, so a retainer for this sort of minor house doesn't have to spend anything to get their starting Status.

This is of course assuming that Deiros doesn't wish to change that rule, which I am fine with him doing. Gah, I need to stop spouting rules at people, I'm sorry!

If no one else is going to do the other Infrastructure roll...
1d6 ⇒ 2 to Lands. Need that to buy useful domains!

Human Psychomancer

Tell you what, I don't need my character to be an heir. Save us some points so we can invest them elsewhere. I think I will change him around a little bit to be a bastard son. I know that bastards are named Snow in the north, is there a last name for them in the Westerlands or the Reach?

I will have my stats up by this evening.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

The Reach bastards are named Flowers.

Well since we are only buying 1 Heir with influence

The Reach 24 Defense, 39 (19) Influence, 28 Lands, 28 Law, 34 Population, 25 Power, 41 Wealth

I still need 1 more 1d6 roll from infrastructure and all the Scandal rolls please before character creation... The faster we are done with house the faster we get to characters.

And you never told me what you wanted to buy for defense.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

The only thing Influence is used for is buying heirs and getting a +1D in Intrigues. I guess the extra Influence could be spent during House turn to get some extra resources in another field.

Bastards in the Reach are I believe Flowers (Tyrell and all being Flower people). Westerlands is Hill.

Hmm, you could apply my Lands roll above as the Scandal penalty to Lands instead of the Infrastructure bonus. The rest of you guys need to make the other rolls. One for any resource as a bonus, one roll for Influence as a penalty, and one for Power as a penalty.

I had figured, given our somewhat lowish Lands score, that we could just buy a Hall and plop it into the domain that we put a hamlet into. Grab another domain, put a river and maybe some ruins in it, and boom! Tiny minor house lands.

Heck, maybe I should make a Maester instead, given all the upkeep I'm doing!

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Beat ya to it wandslinger xD

Yes Influence can be traded later for other resources or for house intrigues.

Now still need the dice rolls for Scandal and Infrastructure (1 left)

I'm going for Elite, top end knight. Not just plain old bodyguard. I'm thinking Achilles level of respect. I'm probably purchasing Famous and I can set rank up a bit higher if I need to. I was planning on being the right hand man so to speak...

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

That's fine by me, but like I was saying before CAN WE STICK TO THE HOUSE CREATION and then characters, it's nice of you guys for having a concept in your minds that will saves us time, but I see no more rolls that are required just more post of character when we are making house FIRST...

I'm waiting for others to roll >.> I've rolled alot, and even rolled us DOOM so I don't want to take the blame for any more screw ups. But if you want, I'll roll.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

Tanner and I have both done multiple rolls, so you and Raven should be finishing off these rolls.

Human Psychomancer

Infrastructure 1d6 ⇒ 2

Scandal 1 1d6 ⇒ 2
Scandal 2 1d6 ⇒ 4
Scandal 3 1d6 ⇒ 4

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Err.. yer missing one in scandal I think aren't those 4? Not at home so not sure check when I get there, since we should be moving into the lands, power ^^ and then Wealth.

I know some of you got the books so if you want to buy the stuff and just tell me what you got for it (discuss it with other players) would be fine I'll just check you don't buy more than you have in lands.

About the rolls to me it's the same if 1 person rolls for all, or a couple since not everyone can be online all the time and it's fine if Tanner does them all like he just did almost or most of them right now ^^ I just want to keep good pace on house creation since it's kinda tedious and long.

Human Psychomancer

Scandal 4 1d6 ⇒ 3

Not trying to take over or anything, just wanted to move things along.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

Scandal hits Influence, Lands, and Power, so the first ones are fine. I guess we can just assign them in order. Tanner, where do you want to assign the Infrastructure bonus?

Is everyone okay with a Hall for defense? Our Lands is going to be rather lowish, so we won't be able to have more than one town, or much land beyond that.

To keep things moving, I'm going to do a mock-up of what our lands might look like, along with some wealth investments and power expenditures.

Human Psychomancer

I'm at work right now and cannot access the books. Please feel free to assign them.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

I assigned the -2 to Influence, and the two -4 results to Lands and Power. I assigned the +2 Infrastructure to Power.

Lands of House Rogryn
Defenses
Hall: 20 points
Total Points: 20 of 24 Defense

Domains
Rogryn Port: 18 points (Plains 5, Coast 3, Hamlet 10)
Rogryn Hall: 6 points (Plains 5, Grasslands 1; put Hall here?)
Total Points: 24 of 24 Lands

Units
Trained Garrison x2: 10 points (3 for Trained level, 2 for Garrison unit; put one unit in Hall and one in town)
Trained Infantry: 7 points (3 for Trained, 4 for Infantry)
Trained Archers: 6 points (3 for Trained, 3 for Archers)
Total Points: 23 of 23 Power

Wealth
Port: 10 points
Maester: 10 points
Artisan: 10 points (Choose what you want him to do)
Total Points: 30 of 41 Wealth

How does this all look? Give opinions!

I like what you've done so far. Obviously the infrastructure has placed our priorities back where they need to be. Go ahead and put the hall where you suggested, I think that'll work quite well.

Rogryn Keep or depends on your Coat of Arms if you want to change it?

what do you guys want for a coat of arms?

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

I am fine with you guys rolling the dice, and the decisions look good. I've been a bit pressed for time the last week, but should have more time going forward the rest of this week, and all of next week.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

Do we want to design it ourselves, or roll for it and see what happens?

Human Psychomancer

Since we have a port, perhaps our house is built upon sea trade? How about THIS for a coat of arms?

Our house motto could be: Weather the Storm

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Not bad at all for that Coat of Arms, the Motto is.. is lol but not bad I like the shield, just need a motto now brain storm it.

That's to long for a motto Vistarius ^^

The Clash of Thunder is your Undoing

This is all looking good, unfortuantely as i do not have the right book i cant offer too much help.
but it looks really good so far

my character will think that a better motto will be, "be the storm" rather than weather the storm!!

i like the coat of arms (does the cloud need to be dark grey or black??)

I think I may play a young idealistic type, 16 years old and not too wise, the rest of you will have to keep me out of trouble! and alive!!

So far my favorites are The Stars, My Destination and The Horizon, My Home.

In Service, Honor
Thunder Calls Us

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Well one of the NPC houses has the Motto: Hear the Thunder ^^ tho the coat of arms has nothing to do with any thunder or storms.

Sable Rampant Horse in an Or Field.

Aedan Lassen, the son of a sworn sword to House Tyrell, would become Aedan “Thundering hooves” for his black courser was so strong and fast that you could hear him coming like the thunder that announces a storm.

House Rogryn

Coat of arms: An argent Cloud sprouting 3 Or lightnings in an azure field

Motto: In service & honor? (just picking one, it's your choice)

House Rogryn was formed after the War of the Usurper by Lorrick Rogryn, a knight of minor noble lineage sworn to House Tyrell. His valiant actions during the course of the war earned him fame and honor. Most thought it fitting that he be granted his own house for such great service. However, unknown to the masses, Lorrick Rogryn was in fact a commoner. Rumors to this effect have begun to circulate through the Reach, damaging some of the House's relations and holdings, but has left them in general peace, so far, allowing the House to better its infrastructure as best it can.

Liege: Mace Tyrell
Lord Lorrick Rogryn
Lady : XXXX Rogryn
Heir: (Player character so far)

Defenses
Lorrick Hall

Domains
Rogryn Port + Hamlet: 18 points (Plains 5, Coast 3)
Lorrick Hall: 6 points (Plains 5, Grasslands 1)
Total Points: 24 of 24 Lands

Units
Trained Garrison x2
Trained Infantry
Trained Archers

Wealth
Port
Maester
Artisan (Choose what you want him to do)
Left over wealth: 11

Influence
1 Heir?

Almost done with house and ready to start characters.

Human Psychomancer

What's left to do for the house?

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Nothing really just confirming if I got the right stuff and ready to start character generations.

I have a couple of house rules regarding certain things like armor and a new quality.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

We do need to decide what the Artisan does.

I was thinking of making a maester now, given the sudden interest in plotting the path of our house.

Maester Telben
Adult Expert
DP: 2

Cunning 4 (Decipher 1B, Memory 1B)
Healing 4 (Diagnosis 1B, Treat Ailment 1B, Treat Injury 1B)
Knowledge 4 (Education 2B)
Awareness 3
Language 3 (Common Tongue)
Language 2 (High Valyrian)
Will 3
Persuasion 3 (Bargain 1B)
Status 3
All others 2

flaw: stealth
Benefit: knowledge focus (history and legends)
Benefit: knowledge focus (magic)
Benefit: maester

Wealth test: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12

GM W.R. Monger

It looks good Wandslinger, just might want to at least get fighting 3...proves to be useful. I had one player be a Septon once... he was more a friggin crusader...

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Well soon as I'm home I'm posting some houserules and we starts character creations, since no one has posted much... I'll live artisan as a +1 bonus to wealth rolls.

We are set to start characters, if there is still any interest, I know creating a house is boring but I wanted it out of the way for the same reason so we can get to characters.

You are a young adult right Tanner?

From king's Landing ^^

You can just leave the rest of the abilities without mentioning them. I know already they will be by default set to 2. Only add them to the list if you upgrade or downgrade an ability.

Otherwise it looks pretty nice ^^

Ya look almost like a braavosi fighter.

Wasn't base movement 4? Just wondering need to go search the book lol
