I'm new to Play-by-Post, but I'm addicted to my current 4E PbP game, and I'm looking to add another. I've been searching the last few weeks, but it seems everyone is running Pathfinder games. While I like that system, I'd really like to stick with 4E.
So, if anyone has a slot open or is thinking of starting a new game -- please count me in. I can post pretty frequently and willing to fill any role in a group.

Fabes, generally I'm more of a fan of making my own character, but I guess it really depends on the character I'm taking over. I've played stand-ins before, and it's gone well and then had other experiences that weren't so positive which is the only reason I'm gun-shy... I'm definitely interested in hearing more, though! Is there a link to the game I can read, or the character I'd be taking over?

I'm currently running him as a companion character and he has terrible luck. Partly down to the dice, but mostly due to my never playing defenders and not having a clue about them.

I do like the paladin class AND the eladrin. I just started reading through some of the posts in that game thread. I wouldn't mind picking up the running of Hadarai... it might take me a bit to get caught up in the thread and definitely a bit to get the hang of the character. But I'd love to game with you-all.

lol, I'll start reading the current fight either way, and enter Hadarai as one of my aliases. Then whatever Fabes decides I can be ready.
umm... is there any leeway in changing/altering Hadarai?
I don't want this to come out wrong or have me sounding like some know-it-all power gamer (and truly no offense to the original character-creator) but I think Hadarai's stats are pretty far off for a paladin. A paladin's primary score should be Str/Cha followed by Wis. Hadarai has a 13 in two of those (nearly his worst stats) and has only a 16 in his primary. Most 9th level characters will have a 20 in their primary, and some will have a 22, and Secondary scores should be in the 15-19 range (much like the rest of the characters in the party).
Little things like choice of gear and powers/feats I get, different people choose different things. I'd have him in plate, with powers that grant an extra marking effect to better hold defense, and I probably would swap a feat or two. But to me those are choices, and mine might be no better than someone else's... But when I was looking over and entering Hadarai's stats into my DDI CB, I really noticed his ability scores being pretty far from the norm. IMO, they're the wrong allocation of points for an effective paladin.

If it's a no, I understand, but will there be an opportunity to recon him later? Change a power, a feat, an ability score? Will changing things on him even be allowed?
If you want to enter the current combat, that's fine. I just haev a prejudice against it from previous experience as a player.
You can reset his stats, but for purposes of continuity, please keep his equipment the same. Later on, you can certainly rejig him - the other players did so with their PCs after the last adventure as so much material had been released since they first created the characters.

(Had to call him "the third" b/c you can't use the same alias names as someone else, and "Hadarai Valanara" and "Hadarai" had already been taken)
I copied over everything I could find on the character between Stardust's page and Rev's page. I did end up changing around his stats (and later on will probably switch out a few powers to take better advantage of them). The only remaining issue was a contradiction in Had's feats. He had two feats that both gave a feat bonus to damage (they don't stack, so one was useless... I put Devoted Paladin in there, but can change it back if you'd rather I wait to switch).
I did have a few questions (no too important right away)
Current cash? I think my current Xp is 17354, and I think my equipment is correct based on what I saw on those pages (I don't know if Rev's Hadarai picked up something since Stardust left... other than that, all the equipment is exactly the same).
Currently Rev is showing Hadarai is down 17hp, 4 healing surges, and has used his fey step this encounter (but hasn't used a daily in as far back as I could see).
PS. I don't mind jumping in or waiting till this combat is over... I'll keep tracking it either way.
He hasn't used his companion character encounter power for ages because he rather needs to be up close and personal and most of the last two fights the poor blighter has been pounding along trying to play catch up with the monsters. I'm not good at defenders.
HP, surges and whatnot are correct. He's just had a go and managed to hit something which made a nice change. It's up to Fabes if he's happy for you to jump in next round. As long as one or other of you lets me know what's happening, all will be well.
Hadarai should be on full surges as thE group has had an extended rest. The feat is fine. Looks good!
