Yeah, I finally went and saw the second one in light of this announcement, and definitely enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was a 'great movie', but I would call it a 'good D&D movie'. Excellent gaming references, a party and adventure that feels true to the game, unique yet iconic characters with a good party dynamic - all good stuff.
Not sure how much hope I have for the new one - given the 'Book of Vile Darkness' theme, I'm somewhat worried about whether the tone of the movie will be 'grim and gritty' just for the sake of being dark. But we'll see. And it didn't stop me trying out the contest, of course! :)

Yeah even if the movie sucks, how cool would it be to have a cameo in it? It might even be more cool if it really sucks...
Incidentally, the guy who writes the blog Legends and Labyrinths is involved with the film. His stuff there is really awesome, so that's a good sign for the movie. I'm excited about this movie, but I've been burned before (remember when Dragon ran all those articles hyping the first D&D movie?).
