I just looked at Hyrum's sticky for the first time. I will be reading the 3.0 play rules through again shortly.
The only way this varies from the rules it updates is that you no longer have to slot 0 a scenario if you want GM and player credit right?
If this is the case I like it. It seems a simple way to encourage more people to GM.

I am not sure if you are confused, or if you did not articulate well what you were trying to say.
There is almost nothing similar with the new rule from the old. The old rules were thrown out, smashed on, burn and its ashes put into my morning coffee.
There is no longer any replay for credit anymore, when before there was.
Edit: you are correct though, you can get GM credit, and Player credit no matter the order.

It does actually change 3 aspects of the original rule.
The first being there is no complex precondition for replay any more. You may replay for any reason at any time with any character.
The second being that you will only ever get a max of 1 Chronicle for playing the mod (the first time you play it) and 1 Chronicle for GMing the mod (the first time you GM it).
Finally the order in which you play or GM the mod no longer matters, though most GMs have expressed a natural preference to play then GM if given the choice.
Hope that helps!

Sounds like he missed the version(s) of the guide which opened up replay entirely.
