Oil goes up in price

Price of Oil has gone through $3.00 a gallon in USA. But apparently Australians are paying $4.94 a gallon. So phutt! YOu American whingers! Lets see how you like it when Oil hits $4.94 a gallon. Then we'll talk about you being hard done by. Australia is subsidizing your cheap oil by paying more.

How dare you criticize us Americans?! We have freedom of speech up here, so we can complain about whatever we want! The price of gasoline is too high in America! Its not my fault that you are paying $4.94 a gallon; maybe you folks aren't electing the right people.

Actually, it is British Petrolium's fault.

All that oil that went into the Gulf of Mexico never reached the Commodities Market. This created the shortage that is pushing up prices.

(By the way: the U.S. should not be let completely off the hook. BP did what they did due to lax oversite by the U.S. Department of Energy.)

I heard it was all Sebastian's fault.

It is true.

Sebastian's hoof can be found behind all that is tragic and evil.

I suspect that Sebastian is the villian Badhorse and he's going to make everyone his mares.

In the UK we're paying £1.23/litre.

So, in US gallons that's £4.66

Which, at current rates, is $7.19/gallon.

And, it's not a problem.

Elections...We dont have elections. We have Opinion Polls and back room knifings in which Women become Prime Minister by kicking the previous PM's corpse into the gutter.

In Germany, it's a couple of cents more something like $7.3/gallon (€1.5/litre), assuming we talk regular.

Luckily, I drive diesel, which is only a bit above 1.3/l, and you get a better mileage. Still, it's about 7 cents/l more than when I went to the gas station last - and that was one right next to the Autobahn, which means I paid a bit more than I would have somewhere else.

It sucks, sure, but they still refuse to sell me one of those nifty cars with a cold fusion engine. I blame those oil bastards, keeping perfectly fine technology out of our hands out of sheer greed.

Weird, I only paid about $2.75 the other day. I mean if you look hard enough you can find Gas prices as high as $2.98 but I never go there because they are too damn high.

The Oil Companies are the Evil Ones, they are keeping technology down that could replace the outdated gasoline powered engine overnight. Maybe one day the People will rise up and destroy the Oil Companies and the damage they have done to our world, but by then it could be too late...

No.

Bad Horse (a.k.a., Sebastian) is behind this evil!

Oil hasn't technically gone UP in price as much as the dollar has gone DOWN in value. Oil is priced in American dollars on the international market, so changes in the U.S. dollar's value are going to affect oil.

Blame Bernanke, not B.P.

The departments of labor and interior helped too! Isn't teamwork great?

Horse manure. Australia is not subsidizing our cheap oil by paying more. You are paying more it's because your government has chosen to layer on more taxes. It's not like the OPEC countries offer the US a discount.

Note, I am not condemning your higher tax rates. I often think that higher fuel taxes which would be funneled directly to transportation, defense, and alternative energy development would make more sense for the US in the long run.

Horse manure. Our economy is built on cheap fuel. You want to finish what our government and the Fed started (you know, ruining our economy), layer more taxes on fuel consumption.

We vote for the Party not the Prime Minster - the Prime Minister is chosen by the party it is how it has always been done and done by all parties left and right. Although the leader is usually chosen before an election.

There have been challenges before from within a party while a party has been in power. Fraser - Peacock, with Peacock failing miserably.

I wish more Australians would learn about their own bloody political process and stop comparing it to the US model as they are vastly different. We do not have a popular election for a leader we elect a party that represents our current outlook and they "elect/choose" a leader to run the party and government.

snark removed.
