We've posted a sneak peek look at the line art for the image that will be on the cover of our upcoming Inkantations: A Sourcebook of Tattoo Magic & Body Art. The character specifically represents the Painted Lady prestige class. You can find the art on our Facebook page (NOTE: You do not need a Facebook account to view our page).
Here's the rough draft of the back cover text:
"You Are the Canvas"
A new magic – the arcane art of inkantation, creating tattoos that are much more than mere decoration – brings all new options. Now, heroes can adorn themselves with symbols and images infusing power into their very flesh, tattoos containing magic both familiar and unique...
The enthralling Painted Lady prestige class, the Tattoo Mage wizard class option – whose entire body is a spellbook – and the Inked sorcerer bloodline all await you inside. Also included are rules and guidelines for crafting tattoos, feat and skills for Inkantationists and mundane artists alike, and feats for the decorated adventurer allow you to customize your character like never before!
Inkantations: A Sourcebook of Tattoo Magic & Body Art is a 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming publication, in conjunction with Heyoka Studios.
Written by Sean O'Connor from a concept draft by Rogan Hamby, with contributions by CJ Ruby and Patricia Willenborg.
Inkantations is scheduled for a late January 2011 PDF/PoD release, and will be available to distributors via Studio 2 Publishing for the April 2011 solicitation cycle.

Pic looks really cool, I like it.
Quick question: While I like the name Inkantations, playing on tattoo ink, the first thing I expected was more support for incantations... do you think this will confuse some people?
I don't think so. We wanted something that played up on tattoos, and with "ink" being common slang for tattoos, it only made sense to use. We explain in the book that creators of magical tattoos, or those whose magic and power is derived mostly from tattoos, are known as "Inkantationists".

And I forgot to mention that I think the subtitle of the book - A Sourcebook of Tattoo Magic & Body Art - immediately speaks to what the book is actually about. :)

cool, that easily fixes any confusion. Even *I* should be able to understand it :)
BTW great idea. I have long wanted tattoos to be more than just pretty ink. I even tried using some ideas from some WOTC 3.x magic sourcebook for alternate magic items and such (one of which was using tattoos for scrolls). For some reason the idea was met with much antagonism by my group.
I look forward to your book!

Good deal! Hopefully our book will be well received by your gaming group!
