I've only read through the mods, not going to run them for a while. I don't think whatever happens in Brevoy has much impact on the PC realms, does it?
I'm planning for using my own world, so I'm thinking along the lines of re-setting parts of #4 and #5 in the mother country, as part of a civil war getting underway. Does anyone see any obvious shortcomings to that?

No, it only impacts the PCs in that it allows them a lot more freedom in the early stages of their kingdom building, since the Swordlords need to distance themselves from the PCs due to the tension with Issia.

The seeds are there. In my KM games i've had the Surtovas become aware of the PC's intentions in chapter 1 and attempt to foil them. I've also planted seeds of tensions rising, and a growing certainty that war is coming, all while the nobles dance and plot and scheme in Brevoy, playing the game of thrones without open warfare yet.
Its also served to dissuade 'Why can't we just go to Restov and buy this stuff' which is something i've had to try and discourage in both my games.
Back to the OP though... no, as written whats going on in Brevoy has very little impact.

I really think its up the the DM how far, if at all, you want to go with the Brevoy Situation. Personally I am going to finish up the Adventure Path and continue afterwards. One of my players is playing as the King's illegitimate bastard of an orcish whore, and thus has absolutely no claim to the throne as it could never go public, so the best he could do was go the the river kingdoms and try to get his own nation. So I am going to have a bit of fun with the Brevic nobility, revealing over time that the King's sister had ensnared him and was with child(yes its icky but I love the Mordred parallel). She will bump off the king now that she has an heir and can take full control, this however will kick off the civil war in earnest. The players need to decide which side they will ally with and matters are made worse by the sudden appearance of a red dragon claiming to be Choral the Conqueror.
Hell if nothing else a future war with Brevoy, either with itself or the PC nation, makes for a great start of a future campaign. I for one am looking forward playing out a campaign taking place in the nation the players built themselves.
