Selling Books Online - Any Suggestions?

Off-Topic Discussions

Hey all, haven't been here for awhile . . . hope everything has been zany and weird in my absence.

Anyhow: I've been clearing out a lot of my books, DVDs, games, etc. and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding selling books (some of which would be old 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th edition D&D books) online besides ebay. Any good on-stop shopping locale where I can get something approximating a fair price?

Althought this isn't an online vendor, I personally avoid selling to Half-Price Books if you eventually decide to go with a brick-and-mortar reseller. I've never received particularly good (or even remotely good) prices out of them and have kicked myself afterwards for selling to them the few times I did so out of laziness.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't even aware that there were brick-and-mortar stores that bought used books!

No place that buys books will give you a fair price for any of your stuff because they need to make some money off of whatever it is you are selling to them. Your best bet is to find someone who sells stuff on eBay and have them do it for you.

There used to be a store like that in my town called Mr. Lister, but it went under.

I feel like I have always been treated fairly by Amazon. You might try them.

I know you said sell, but maybe you would find swap.com useful.

If you happen to be around Chattanooga, TN (a long shot, I know), there's a place called McKay's (or some spelling variation thereof) that gives a decent amount for used books (if you don't mind store credit). Their new building is the size of a neighborhood walmart and has damn near everything (at least the last time I went, it did). I always got a fair shake there, found more than a few books at a reasonable price, and even managed to keep my bank account in the black a time or two when things were tight.

I will second the half-price books thing though. They're sh!tty. They're expensive and offer you next to nothing for your books.

Well, looks like I'm going with the Ebay option- if anyone's interested in source books, modules, and the like from either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd edition D&D, heads up, because I'm going to unloading a lot of stuff.

Thanks for the advice anyhow!
