Midnight

One of my favorite settings of all time (now 2nd to Golarion) is Midnight. I love the struggle, the darkness, the lack of hope. I love the different subraces of elves, the dwarves are amazing, the subraces of humans, the crossbreed races, etc. And the fact that there's so much mystery. I was wondering if anyone has done or is planning to do any kind of converting of this setting. I'm thinking of running this in the future sometime. Any one who loves this setting can feel free to add their comments. Please no negativity, I get enough of that with my other posts. Thanks :-)

I too, greatly enjoyed Midnight. I played an Orc defender :P

The biggest challenge to this (besides Midnight not being OGL) is the removal of things supernatural/divine from the classes in PFRPG.
Midnight had custom classes and races becasue the setting reflects a land cut off from the gods, and only the bad guys having access to divine magics. Even the monks had their mystic stuff nerfed and made into quick pugilists. These lost abilities were made up with heroic paths...

You might as well just use PFRPG updated combat rules and skill set, and leave the rest alone, IMHO.

I really enjoyed Midnight as well. I never got to run anything there, but I still bought everything that came out in the first couple of years. I draw from it inspirationally from time to time and fully plan to incorporate facets into my homebrew though. I always thought it was a nice fresh alternative to Ravenloft.

It can convert quite nicely IF you use their magic system and not the PFRPG magic system...

Otherwise Kryzbyn has it pretty on the money and just use the combat/feats etc. without a fair swack of cut and paste...

However if you are willing then giving mages a single magic school + one from their specialist school or two schools if they are a generalist for Mages (sorcerers dont really work) and 2 for clerics/Druids - works as well... extra school costs a feat etc, and the magic system it could sorta work and nerfs the hell out of casters... which some few would say is a good thing.

Otherwise I suppose you could use the magic system directly but again Sorcerers are a bit of stretch.

I gotta say I DO love the magic system. Again with some elbow grease and hard work it could fit.

Now IF you do make it work, PLEASE post it.

Nightflier runs a couple of games in the play-by-post forums that use the Pathfinder rules and the Midnight settings and well worth a look. The discussion (out of character) threads for those games could provide you with a lot of info.
