Sandpoint and Tsystalor Krune?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Flipping through one of my personal favorite 3rd party supplements, Villains from Bastion Press, I was rereading the origin story of Tsystalor Krune, a half fiendish killer. Much to my surprise, I noticed that the place of Krune's birth was Sandpoint.

Now, surely that could be a coincidence, because that would serve as a common name for many towns, like Westcrown, or Eastbank. However, I know that James Jacobs was one of the main contributors to Villains. So I'm curious. Is there any direct and intentional ties between the Sandpoint of Golarion and the Sandpoint of Tsystalor Krune?

I was in fact the ONLY contributor to Villains; I wrote the entire book (along with the web enhancement).

Sandpoint has long been a location in my homebrew game, a place inspired by my home town of Point Arena (which translates to something akin to "Sandpoint"). The Sandpoint mentioned in Villains isn't quite exactly the same one that made it into Varisia; neither is quite the same as the one in my homebrew world, but in a way they ARE all the same.

Thanks for the insights. (And yeah, I sort of assumed that if there was a lead designer, there might have been other inputs; that's awesome that they're all yours. Pirates, dinosaurs and demon lords...) And Villains Rebirth is on my top three lists of products I wish were available in a hardcopy.

Once I finish up Savage Tide and move on to Rise of the Runelords, I'll have to see about fitting ol' Krune in there.

Sandpoint also looks a ton like Blackmoor. Was Blackmoor consciously an inspiration for Sandpoint, or was it just coincidence?
