Ninja Spell List

There has been some talk about ninjas having magic should a ninja class be made. If the fine folks at Paizo go that route, what spells do you think should be on the ninja's spell list.

Probably things like this:

Replacement
School: Conjuration
Level: Ninja 4
Casting Time: 1 immediate action
Components: S
Range: Self
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: no
The ninja can, when about to be struck by an attack, replace himself with an inanimate object (usually a log or statue, but anything can do), and teleport up to 30 ft away. This teleport cannot bring the ninja within 10 ft of any other creature.

Passwall
School: Transmutation
Level: Ninja 4, Sorcerer/Wizard 5
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: S
Range: Self
Duration: 1 round
Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: no
The caster can, once done casting the spell, become incorporeal for one round and pass through solid objects. If the object being passed through is greater than the base movement of the caster, he melds into the wall, then melds back out where he started from.

Other spells would also be in there, like Vanish (from the APG), Invisibility, greater invisibility, and the like.

I'm assuming a 4 spell level progression. like the ranger or paladin.

We can talk about that too. I would rather see a six level progression like the bard or the beguiler from the PHB II.

Shadow Lodge

Emulate Rogue.

I was thinking about that, but the more I think about it, the more it seems (to me anyway) that the ninja should be more fighter than caster. But I do definitely see the point of a 6 spell level progression. That would seem to go in line with a 3/4 BAB. And the ninja probably isn't going to be a full BAB class.

I don't have any idea what the people at Paizo would choose, obviously. But I do want to make sure that it is stated clearly. Either 3/4 BAB and 6-Level Spell progression, or Full BAB and 4-Level Spell Progression. That is the choice, yes?

That seems to be how all the other classes have been built, so for the sake of this discussion we will assume that yes, those are the only two options avalible. At least for Arcane casters.

And because of the spells I personally would want a ninja to have, I would definietly go arcane with this one.

in no particular order:

jump
expeditious retreat
haste
camouflage (from FR, +10 bonus to stealth)
mirror image
silent image/minor image/major image
dimension door
cat's grace
endure elements
animate rope
obscuring mist/fog cloud
darkness/deeper darkness
ghost sound (no verbal component)
invisibilty/improved invis
disguise self/alter self
hold person
hypnotism
explosive runes
beast shape
charm person
gaseous form
darkvision
something that provides scent
non detection
misdirection
pyrotechnics
stonemeld
treeshape

that's all I can think of on short notice.

Personally I would give them all of the enchantment and illusion spells from the sorcerer/wizard spell list up to 6th level. I would also give them a few transmutation spells that fit the ninja theme such as cat's grace, eagle's splendor, and alter self.
