Will Paizo provide Hero Lab portfolios for NPCs in PFRPG Adventures and APs?

Product Discussion

I recently purchased Hero Lab to use for two PFRPG APs and as an aid when I GM PFS events in Grand Rapids. As I also have a current subscription to the PFRPG adventures and APs, I was wondering if the fine folks at Paizo had any plans of providing the HL portfolios for the major NPCs in either of these product lines as a download on their site? As HL is the official character generator tool for PFRPG, I would assume that at least one developer in-house is using this tool on some level.

Thanks.

Speaking for my group, +7

Including the datasets for NPCs would be VERY..strike that...EXTREMELY helpful and cut down the amount of prep-time on running PF adventures.

On the business end, not only would it make Hero Labs more attractive to those who haven't considered integrating it into their adventures, it would also benefit Paizo by strengthening their brand.

In the end, however, the average RP group (equipped with Hero Lab) wins.

All of the pregens from the back of adventure paths 25+ are available, along with most of the statblocks from the companion line. (The pre-gens from adventure paths 1-24 are available in the d20 game system in HL, since they were written with 3.5 rules).

Please try Hero Lab out in demo mode - you won't be restricted from opening up the adventure path pre-gens while you're in demo mode, and you can see what's available. You can download the demo here.

...what?

Paizo doesn't make HeroLabs. That is a wholly independent product that is not even officially supported by Paizo. And moreover, why would Paizo care that more people do or don't buy Hero Labs?

And you know what would make Hero Labs more attractive to those that haven't integrated Hero Labs? A more customer friendly pricing structure.

I have a terrible memory, but that really isn't a main point.

Paizo still doesn't make HeroLabs. It is still an independent product. And Paizo still doesn't have any investment in the amount of people using or not using Hero Lab.

What is your point again?

The point of my OP remains valid, even if you disagree. I expect Paizo would want to support Hero Lab, albeit in a limited capacity, as it draws further attention to PFRPG. I do not feel the question posed in my OP to be out of line as inferred by your replies. If the official answer is no, then I suspect PFRPG/Hero Lab users will grumble, and begin sharing NPC portfolios on these forums and the supporting forums at Lone Wolf.

And if Paizo has no investment into the number of PFRGP players that use Hero Lab, why even bother to agree to license PFRPG content with Lone Wolf? Your statement is confusing to me...

Probably legal crap.

And the chance Paizo would provide NPC portfolios is slim and I would hope that the priority of that is far behind a decent errata system.

I do know at some point in the Future they are planning on adding the bestiaries from the APs.

Edit: I see you posted on the Lone Wolf forums.

You really really need to chill out and relax on the topic if Hero Labs. Many many people have told you that the pricing structure was up to you. You could buy the HL product AND NOTHING else and add it all yourself (The adventure paths, Game Mastery Guide and the Core Rules Included in the basic pricing structure).

So that is 29.99. If that is not friendly enough for you then that is fine. If you want to pay others to add the APG, Bestiary and the Armory and race supplements.. you can do that too. But you Cartigan do not seem to want to pay any one to add the data to any and I mean any character generator or DM tool (of which Hero Labs is both, making for one of the best DM tools out there). If you as a person choose not to buy it then that is fine but stop and get off the high horse already about Hero Labs.
