Converting the "Berserker Strength" variant (PHBII) to Pathfinder?

Conversions

A player has inquired about possibly using this variant for his barbarian in a pathfinder home game.

It essentially replaces Rage with a Strength boost and DR.

The big difference is that, unlike normal rage, the character doesn't choose when to enter into this state - it automatically activates whenever HP are fewer than 5xBarbarian level. There's no limit to # of 'rages' per day.

Has anyone tried this with the Pathfinder system? Do we even need to convert anything, or does it still work okay in the context of a Pathfinder barbarian?

All help and feedback certainly appreciated

Sounds about fine to me.. The effect was based off of the Barbarian's HD, and more of a passive kicker that I recall.. One of those "Death's Door" effects, though the sticky point is the DR.. that may have to be adjusted if the DR changed in PF.

I'm wondering whether that damage window is still viable, though. If we're talking max HP +Con, you're looking at a window of ~1/3rd of the Barbarian's total HP.. Sounds about right.

"Rage Against the Dying of the Light" is just too long, but it sounds like a cool ability.

Scarab Sages

I had a player use this during the beta test of Pathfinder. We found it worked just fine as is.
