Pathfinder Epic Rules from a 3PP?

With Dreamscarred Press releasing its beta for Pathfinder Roleplaying Game psionics, any third party publisher working on Epic rules (levels 21+)?

The only folks who did 3.5 epic were http://eternitypublishing.wordpress.com/

and they are doing 4e

Scarab Sages

It's on my list of things to consider. I *have* some epic-level house rules, but I don't know that they would satisfy the needs of other people's campaigns. I build my house rules to fit my group, rather than for publication, and crossover doesn't always work.

JBE has looked into it but short of the long, its to massive a project for us that will be obsolete in the not too distant future. Take a look at Adamant's Warpath Mass Combat system. It may have done well at first, but are we really going to see support for it once Paizo's system comes out? Probably not. Infact, I'd venture to guess you'll see more support for Paizo's mass combat from both Paizo and us 3PP in the first 2-4 months than Adamant can do for Warpath in a year.

Dreamscarred is a special case since they love Psionics and Wizards didn't really love it in the same way. Myself, I've never had a character make it to 20th level and only a handful that went past 15th. Epic is not a system we've really used before, so we wouldn't do as good of a job as the (unannounced) projects we've got lined up for next year that we love to play with and in. *slight tease*

Eventually Paizo will do an epic system and we'll be happy to play those rules and see where it takes us. But we're not going to write such a massive (sub)system ourselves.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw Warpath knowing very well what was going to be touched in Kingmaker. Kinda felt bad for Hank on that, but that's the reality of the business. Kind of like what SGG is currently contemplating with regard to the Magus and that they already have a product with the same moniker.

DSP is indeed a special exception to the rule.

Pulp Sci-Fi Fantasy and Post Apocalypse from a Modern chassis refit for Pathfinder - to me - seems the way to go. Which is why I was initially a cheeerleader for SGG's attempt to do P20 Modern, but ... ah well.

Warpath was never really designed with support/future products in mind. As far as whether or not it will be replaced by Paizo's official rules depends largely on the nature of those rules; will they be abstract, like Kingmaker? If so, there will still be a place for Warpath at many tables.

When I first designed Warpath, I had pitched it to James, but he said he was going with something a lot shorter and more abstract for Kingmaker. I decided to pitch the idea to 3PPs since I knew many players would want more indepth rules and options. I'm really pleased its found its audience as it has!

My gaming group has had a lot of experience in dealing with epic rules and groups. My writing partner and I have talked about doing epic rules for Pathfinder, but with the current list of projects in front of us, it would be next year before we could begin to tackle it - at least 5 or 6 books down the line.

Rite Publishing for now is going to stick with supporting the 16th-20th level area since Paizo does not do a huge amount with it. Our Coliseum Morpeheon Setting is perfect for it and we are really enjoying it right now.

I think that a "guide to high level play" hardcover would be an EXCELLENT book to print, as a result. Something that not only helped to teach and train players and GMs on how to handle high level play and how to create adventures for high level play, but also provided a lot of additional crunch and pre-built NPCs and stuff to aid such play. Haven't been able to squeeze something like that on a schedule yet, alas.

So, which 3PP's gonna write such a supp? ;-)

Just curious but where is that quote from?
