I was catching up on blogs and reading geeksdreamgirl, when I ran into a quote from 4 winds Fantasy, that read "Now, with some freelancers, that will fly. If Owen K.C. Stephens comes up to me and says “I’ve got an idea and you should let me write it for you,” I’m going to listen to his idea."
Which made me wonder what writers the 3pp would *like* to work with? I would guess everyone would take Monte Cook and any Paizo staffer, but who else is out there youd love to get to produce something for you?

Ed Greenwood would be at the top of my list, along with his crazy fun ideas, he has done freelance Pathfinder work for Open Design and worked on Open Design patronage projects so who knows.
Owen K. C. Stephens is on my list, and I get to work with him on Questhaven assuming we hit goal (50% to our threshold goal with 39 days out of the original 60 days)
I could make a really long list: Steven Schend (love his 2nd edition realms work and marvel supers), Jeff Grubb (The planes and Marvel Supers), Wolfgang Baur (best adventure writer ever), Monte Cook (Arcana Evolved and Ptolus), Tim Hitchcock (The Great City), Matthew Sernett (Advanced Bestiary), Greg Benage (Midnight Campaign Setting), Keith Baker (Forget Eberron go read Crime and Punishment by atlas games), Rich Berlew (I want the Belkar Bitterleaf's Guide to Better Roleplaying),
Really though who I want to work with are people who turn over quality work, meet their deadlines, and stay with in the assigned word count; This is why you see the same names on alot of my products like Jonathan McAnulty, T. H. Gulliver, and Ben Mcfarland.

This is more important than a big name author to me at this point. Mind you if Matt Sernett sent me an email that said he's got the next book of beasts, I certainly wouldn't turn him down. However I don't really expect a major author to write for me at this point simply because there are so many bigger companies that can offer then more in terms of publicity and pay scale than I can.
So I am happy with young authors looking for their first break that meet deadlines and word count and do a quality job. Any interested?

Ditto on Steven Schend and Jeff Grubb, but only if we could do a Marvel Super Heroes RPG product. That is my DREAM project.

My list would pretty much be Steve's list, above. But I also agree with Dale - as much as I would love to have some of the bigger, more well-established names do a project or two for us, right now I am content with the group of young, up-and-coming writers we do have. Sean O'Connor (Paths of Power, Luven Lightfinger's Gear & Treasure Shop, Albion Armitage's Astounding Arsenal) is providing fantastic material for us, and I wouldn't trade that for anything right now. I just fear the day that others start to recognize his talent and steal him away from us.

Ah how I want to see more by Steven ...

For me it is Bret Boyd! If he came to me with an idea for a new planar campaign setting (extremely unlikely!) I'd drop everything in my hands and get started!
Also, I wouldn't necessarily turn away Jonathan Tweet and Mark Rein-Hagen if they came to me with an idea for a new RPG in the old Ars Magica style... I'd probably sell my soul for such a project! :)

Oh and I left out a dream project with Stan! writing a rpg game for the Youngins something like Avatar the Last Airbender Rpg using the pathfinder rules (See dream)
I would love to be in on an Airbender RPG. And actually, working on The Secrets to Divine Channeling, when I was doing the earth, air, fire and water domains I kept thinking of bending and how neat it would be to build an airbending character.

Damn, Rob, that's real kind to hear. I've really enjoyed working with Kat Bauer, Rob and Connie of course, Patricia Willenborg, and have been pleased at the early stages of work with Ryan Costello, Jr. on material for an upcoming book.
For a dream project? Wow, that's a tough one. Steve's list kind of covers most of the authors. There are some people in the Palladium stable that have some interesting ideas but that's like saying, "Sure, that radioactive material can kill you with even moderate exposure, but doesn't it give off a pretty glow?"

Alright, this is the third time I've tried to type this as my internet connection seems to fail each time I hit submit.
In my tenure in this industry, I've had the pleasure of working with several very talented writers and even jump starting a few careers. On my short list of writers I would like to work with again or collaborate with for the first time are: Owen Stephens, Stan!, Hyrum Savage, JD Wiker, Chris Sims, Kevin Ruesch, Tom Knauss, Darrin Drader, Ari Marmell, Bret Boyd, Steve Russell, and Rob Schwalb (and I know I'm forgetting one or two folks).

Wow, thanks to Axel and Steve for mentioning me. As for who I'd like to work with, honestly any of the big names mentioned here would be fantastic (if a little costly) but I really want to work with someone who can just give me a polished manuscript and be professional. If you know the rules set your writing for and can be communicative, then that's the best basis for a writer looking for work. Well, that and getting your work in by a deadline.
Tricky Owlbear is looking for such individuals and you can email me here: bret (dot) boyd (at) trickyowlbear.com

So, any hope DragonWing, Tricky Owlbear, Rite, and Super Genius can come together for a writer's mash-up project so a bunch of you can work together on a project?

You mean like the Questhaven Campaign Setting patronage project? Its possible with your support.

The designers I have most come to admire in the industry are Bruce Cordell (though is output of late makes me want to cry), David Noonan who worked on Heroes of Battle and PHBII among other books of pure awesome, and Bill Slavacek who I have come to consider the best adventure writer in the TSR/WotC stable.
And maybe Peter Lee. ;)
