I am not really sure if this is the right place for this, even though it relates to the Pathfinder 3PPs. Anyway, I am trying to find 3PPs who are based in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US so that I can send invitations to them to be Gaming Guests at a sci-fi convention I am helping to organize in Virginia for Feb, 2011.
If anyone knows a source for this online and can post it or if the individual publishers who are close enough to be interested in this could post here, I would appreciate it.

Yes, but they are public businesses and most should have physical mailing addresses, even if it is just a p.o. box, for mail orders and returns and such. And besides, I asked for general locations as in a state, not Googlemap directions to their front door. :)
A fair portion of 3PP are run by people out of their homes - that was the point I was trying to make.
I do hope you get some responses though - more gaming is good!

That is definitely true. I run Silver Crescent out of my home. I haven't yet sprung for a P.O. box. Unfortunately my company is based out of southern Indiana, so I don't fit the region you are looking for. But I wish you the best of luck.

Well, I am only putting a regional limit for the sake of the publishers. I just can't see someone traveling half way across the country for a small to mid-sized convention where they are basically only getting free memberships and exposure. If a game designer really wants to travel more than a few hours at their own expense to talk on some panels, maybe run demos, and publicize their products, then I am sure any convention would be happy to have them. :)

Yeah, I'd guess that if you don't offer at least a free room (though maybe it could be the room in the house of a Con organizer who has a spare bedroom near the Con), you're not going to get anyone from very far off. Especially not any of the interesting people (Jason Bulmahn, Owen Stephens, Sean Reynolds) who are quests at things like GenCon and NeonCon.
But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask!

Rite Publishing |

Rite Publishing is also based out of my home.
I am in Ohio.
Right now my big issue with traveling to the Con would be being just a small pdf and print on demand company I don't even have enough stock yet to make it worth going to a con, as the cost of a table is very difficult to make back if you don't have stock to sell.
Give me a year and I am there.

4 Winds Fantasy Gaming is based out of Montana, so we're out of you're region.
For future reference, though, our address can be found on our website.

Oh, a really big name in the industry would fall into the Guest of Honor category and even small conventions will, or should, offer them a room and travel expenses to come as that. The one I am helping, being in it's first year, is just going to be happy to be able to provide that kind of stuff to an Author GoH, Artist GoH and a Media GoH. Of course, the nice thing about the gaming industry is that many people in it also qualify as either authors or artists, or both, unless they strictly handle the business side of things and none of the creative side.
Things are also not like they were in the old days before digital submissions became so common. Back then, if you wanted to work for TSR, you generally needed to live in Wisconsin, if you wanted to work for Marvel or DC, you needed to live in New York, etc. But these days, even though Paizo and WotC and others are based in the state of Washington, they probably have contributors all over the country and other parts of the world. And that does help conventions find more guests without having to either be located in the right places or having to be such a big convention that someone will be a guest just because of the name.

Tricky Owlbear is based out of Hamburg, PA (about halfway between Harrisburg and Allentown). As Rite Publishing said, though, I'm not sure how much a pdf publisher could contribute to a Con. Also, you say this is a sci-fi convention but will it cover fantasy as well?
Hey, you're almost in my back yard! ;)

Indeed. I'll be responding to your artist query soon. :)

Yep. Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, steampunk, role-playing games, warhammer tournaments, LARPs, indie films, and more.
And even if you were not coming to sell stuff, gaming guests who could speak on panels about succeeding in this industry or talking about the creative side of things are always welcome.
And speaking of gaming pdfs and fiction ebooks, those are getting so common now that I am wondering how to have a dealer at a convention that is set up to sell ebooks directly to a customer at a con. Would a company be able to, say, bring a laptop with their ebooks on it and sell copies directly to the con-goers, where the buyers have a flash drive or ebook reader or laptop that the books or pdfs could be directly transferred to?

Really if they hand me cash and have a Drivethrurpg account if they have an email address you can sell to them directly. I do this with physical copies I sell at lulu.
Again the real issue is the expense of gas, food and lodging.
Gas and Food I can pay for but lodging would be hard as money is just too tight right now as we gear up for our print run of Book of Monster Templates.

That is good to know about selling pdfs at conventions.
And yes, Ohio to Virginia is a long drive, and the hotel, while not expensive, is not cheap either, at just under $100/night including taxes. Of course, there IS the time-honored convention tradition of room sharing and we have had a couple of other guests, both confirmed and not, that have the same issue of not quite being able to cover both travel and room. We are looking into which ones might be amenable to sharing a room with another guest to help with their expenses.

Huh, I'm about 30 minutes east of Allentown.
