Some new feats

Homebrew and House Rules

I've always seen the Bard as Batman. He may not be able to stand toe-to-toe with the Fighter (Superman) or move like the Rogue (Flash) or all that other stuff, but he has an encyclopedic knowledge of nearly everything and is a master at applying that knowledge in combat.

Sadly, the Bard isn't quite as powerful in combat as I'd like. For that reason, I'm looking at creating a few new feats to help him apply his knowledge in combat.

Here's the first one

Combat Analysis
prereq: Base Attack Bonus +6

If a character makes an appropriate knowledge skill against a target and gains the right to know at least one item of useful information from that knowledge roll, the character can, instead, apply that right to activate this feat.
This doubles the crit range of any weapon used by the character against the target.
The character may sacrifice additional items of useful information to, instead, gain a +1 on confirmation of the crit. He gains one +1 on the confirmation roll for each additional item of useful information.
All of these bonuses apply for the rest of the combat.

Comments are desired.

Any time you increase a crit range, you have to specify how it interacts with feats/magic.

Does this feat apply only the first time you encounter a creature? Subsequent times? When you encounter a creature type a second time, will you allow another knowledge check for the same bonuses?

Playing devil's advocate is my specialty. :)

I appreciate playing devil's advocate.

How's this?

Whenever a character encounters a target, he can make an appropriate knowledge skill against that target. If the character gains the right to know at least one item of useful information from that knowledge roll, the character can, instead, apply that right to activate this feat.

In all other ways, this feat is used in place of the improved critical feat. It isn't stackable with the improved critical feat but is stackable with everything the improved critical feat is stackable with.
All of these bonuses apply for the rest of the combat.
