Hello, i had the same problem when i first posted here.
As others told me then, it is better to search often this thread and read all the "New pbp game starting soon, need players" kinda titles.
Then you would have to post a character concept of yours and hope you were in time to fit in.

Some people accept players on a first "fully done character" submitted basis, some do them on a first come first served, some do lottery, and some do open submission and then pick the concepts they think would make a nice group. On the off chance that you try to get in on a "first finished" group you might want to have a couple of stock characters ready to go. The generation method will vary by dm preference, but you could have a fleshed out concept ready and then quickly fit the numbers into place once you know what they will be.
There has been a lot of recent recruiting activity here so keep an eye out. Investigate threads that sound promising. With school starting again I bet new games will continue to pop up.
