Hey all,
I have a question on just how the Staglords Helm would have been created using the rules in the core rulebook for crafting a wondrous item. Also some general questions.
A few questions:
- Was the Staglord a worshiper of the LG diety Erastil? (guess not)(If that was required to use an ability of the helm then the cost would have been 30% less)
- To use the helm was a free action, is there a cost for that when crafting an item (as opposed to a immediate, move or standard action)?
-What process on page 550 of the core rule book was used to grant the helms "effects" (perception +2, etc)?
If someone who knows crafting and has the book could detail out the method and cost to craft the item I'd appreciate it. just trying to understand the process better.
Thanks,
Scott.

Well, as to the 1st question, Its pretty clear that the stag lord did not make his helm. The helm seems similar in ability and style to religious relics published in 3.5 ed. Those typically were magic items that had enhanced abilities if used by a member of the proper faith.
Ultimately I'm not sure that we can help you with the pricing concerns. Not every item is made by standard pricing. Sometimes the standard price seems too high or too low relative to similar existing items (amulet of mage armor vs. bracers of armor +4 is the standard example). The stag helm seems a clear example of 'hmmm... this seems about right' pricing.
The +2 to perception would be worth about 1000, the targeted shot (whatever it was called) would make up the remaining 2500 in pricing. That part really has to be a guess, as we have no equivalent item or power to that given by the helm.
hope this helps.
