Hellfrost PbP (Savage Worlds) - Interest Check

Gamer Connection

I'm interested in running a few Hellfrost Adventures on these boards to learn the Ins-and-Outs of the Savage Worlds rules, and wanted to see how many folks would be up for that.

If all goes well, I could very well start up a full campaign using Savage Worlds, but moving to Golarion to run some adventure paths.

Right now, I'm just getting a head count to see if at least four people are interested and can commit to a few months for some adventures.

Current Head Count:
Winterwalker

Liberty's Edge

Wouldn't mind playing.

Haven't been around the boards much for a while but this sounds interesting - I'm completely unfamiliar with the setting, but it looks like it is different and has some potential. Seems to be a fair bit of support material too; if it flies I'd be all for keeping it going as is rather than going to Golarion. While I'm not a *massive* fan of SW (i.e. I don't think it's going to cure cancer and deliver world peace) it seemed OK the few times I've tried it, and I'm currently disenchanted enough with Pathfinder to want a game of something else.

If the game goes ahead I'm happy to buy the Player's Guide - not much point if I'm not going to use it though so I'll wait and see whether there are enough takers first if you don't mind?

Sounds good. I'll add you to the going list (I forgot these boards don't let you go back to edit the original post).

Current list
Winterwalk
Grufflehead

I'm interested but new to Savage Worlds and to Hellfrost -- this sounds like it might be a good way to learn more about both.

How do you plan to handle combats? By pure narrative, or by some sort of inline images?

I would be very interested in playing! :)

I just recently discovered Savage Worlds (end of June) and Hellfrost really grabbed my attention, since then I've picked up SWXE, Fantasy Companion, Hellfrost Players Guide, Hellfrost Bestiary and Hellfrost Gazetteer.

I've been planning on introducing/running some Hellfrost for my home group but my friend has dibbs on the next campaign which is set to go in a week or so.

This would be a great opportunity for me to see how SW plays before bringing to my home group.

I gotta be honest though I have read through the first 6 pages of N1 Lair of the Vermin Lord so I do know the plot of that adventure.
I'm willing to play dumb but if this is a conflict I understand regardless I will be watching to see how it all plays out :)

I am interested. I've played a little SWEX, and am trying to get my TT group to play it every once in a while. I have Hellfrost and would defintely be interested in playing in a PBP.

I'd be interested, as I'm DMing a SW game on the boards. I don't have Hellfrost, though.

Thanks for all the interest, guys.

Since it looks like I have a few folks that would like to give this a whirl, I'm gonna go ahead and set up a OOC thread to post characters. It will also have guidelines for creation.

Because I'd like to run this with little fuss for anyone, I do have a few requirements to play:

First, at a minimum, each player needs the Hellfrost Player's Guide (or at least individual access to one) and either the Explorer's Edition rulebook or Test Drive v6 for the basics. Don't worry about unfamiliarity with the rules...I'm learning too.

Second, I can post at least every other day, and sometimes more frequently, so I'd like a commitment to at least the same. If I may not be able to post for a few days, I'll let you know (I work overnights at a local ER, sometimes for 3-4 days in a row, so I tend to sleep when I can).

I'll post the OOC link below later today.

Thanks!!

Thanks for offering to run this DM T. I've got SWEX and have just bought the Hellfrost PG from DriveThru. Some reading for tonight and I look forward to the game.

Sweet! :)

I've got both the Explorer's Edition (and Fantasy Companion) and the Hellfrost Player's Guide. What I lack is experience actually playing under the rules -- so I'm looking forward to this!

That should be eminently doable.

I haven't done play-by-post before. Will combat be entirely narrative, or will there be some sort of graphic indicating combatants' positions?

You posted this question in a previous post, and apologize for not answering sooner.

I do plan on using some maps, typically posting one for each round. I'm investigating some possible posting sites (I have an account at 4shared, but each will be linked no matter what).

I don't think you'll regret the purchase of the Player's Guide.

Even if you don't use it all, there is some real gold in it. I'm really interested to see how the spellcasting without Power Points rules work [hint-hint! for any players!].

The Player's Guide certainly got some good reviews on DTRPG. And I have to say, even from the brief scan I had of the contents before I bought it, it was enough to make me apply to the game as it looked so full of promise and much different to any other game I've played for a while. Maybe this will be the thing that convinces me SW is worth more of a look?

As far as PCs, I don't want to ninja your OC thread, but I already have a notion for someone with a bit of spellcasting - maybe a travelling priest if that fits the type of game you have in mind - so look forward to working with you to explore the new casting mechanics.

I have all three Hellfrost Books, but I have't read through the Gazeteer or the Bestiary yet. The Players Guide is by far a very good buy. I also have the SWEX. I can commit to Daily Posting during the week with exception of Aug 26-27 as I will be camping and not have any internet access. I usually am not on the PC on weekends but can attempt to get on. I've done PBP for several years and understand how the flow needs to be kept going.

Looking forward to it!

As for character types, I'd be up to play just about anything. There are SO many good ideas in Hellfrost. I'll narrow down my selection this eve, when IO have the physical book in front of me.

I'm going to bow out. Have a fun game! :)
